John Carpenter's Body Bags was released on dvd by Artisan Entertainment and Scream was able to get the rights. Maybe there is a chance that Scream was able to get the rights to Fright Night 2 as well. I will hold out hope.

By this logic, it would only seem right, but there could possibly be other production companies/producers "Fright Night II" had that "Body Bags" didn't, that the rights could have reverted back to. I truly don't know this is simply my best guess. I believe "Bride of Re-Animator" could fall under this logic too, I believe at one point all three of these films were only released by Artisan then they went off the map.

Someone else may have gotten to Fright Night II before Shout could (if they even tried) Someone needs to release it in HD in the OAR with an extra or something on it -
Scream would be my first choice, then Synapse , then Olive ..then anyone else who does reputable or on occasion something sparkly good ... My big three wishlists are Fright Night 2 , Without Warning and Godzilla 1985 with Pumpkinhead also right up there probably # 4 ..followed by movies that are on DVD in those wretched snapper cases ![]() The stuff I want upgraded first are titles that have a poor transfer or wrong aspect ratio, then snapper cases lol |

That would be so insane if they got it !! Im very hopeful for Without Warning but Im not getting my hopes too high like those who fully expected Criterion to announce the Cronenberg titles. Im sure they didn't announce them because too many expected them.

Way back, when I gave up on trying to get "Bride of Re-Animator" on DVD, not to mention the unforeseen amount of time it would take to reach blu-ray, I simply scanned the PS3 online store and found it there for purchase but only in SD, unfortunately. For some reason I thought I saw "Fright Night II" in there as well around that time. Now, it appears it has been removed, but truly I cannot 100% confirm it was ever there in the first place.
But, here's some good news for people who want the original "Fright Night" in HD, that missed out on the Twilight Time release, you can own the HD version on your PS3 in a 6GB file for $10. |

Also, oddly enough anyone questioning where the rights are for "Bride of Re-Animator", the PS3 online store which is selling the film for use on PS3 systems and other Playstation devices, claim it's currently with Lionsgate.
I believe this to be very accurate as to where that film's rights currently reside. I just checked on the original film and it doesn't say Anchor Bay it says it's with Image. In other weird findings at the PS3 store, an HD print of "The Funhouse" which should be under either "Shout!" or "Scream Factory" still has "Universal" under studio, while "Deadly Blessing" has "ContentFilm" listed as it's current studio. Also just an FYI, HD prints of "Jaws" sequels can be purchased at the PS3 store. "House" & "House II" appear to be with Image Entertainment, but are only available in SD. "Return of the Living Dead 2" appears to be with Warner Bros, also available in HD. "Tales from the Darkside: The Movie" which has always remained with Paramount and still remains there is also available in HD. "Tobe Hooper's: Night Terrors" which apparently is still with Cannon and only available in SD obviously. Surprisingly, a film notoriously only available only in SD fullscreen since it's very first release and subsequent re-issues, "Leprechaun" is now available in HD. As a matter of fact there appears to be HD prints for every movie in the "Leprechaun" franchise. "Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings" currently at Lionsgate is available in HD. Someone questioned about the 1994 "Body Snatchers" film, it is currently at Warner Bros., no HD print available. Sorry for all the editing but I thought some of the information would be helpful to those who have been curious about some of these titles. Remember now all this information comes from the PS3 online store, where all these films can be rented or purchased. Last edited by thompsonjohn; 07-17-2013 at 01:27 AM. |
