This is all inaccurate.
1) Curtians and Prom Night did not come from Echo Bridge, they were sublicensed by Synapse from Simcom, presumably Synapse has a deal with them for the blu-ray/combo rights, while Echo Bridge retains temporary DVD rights. 2) Echo Bridge couldn't license out any of the Halloween movies or other Miramax properties to Shout, because Miramax would be the ones to do that, and since they already split their catalog between Lionsgate and Echo Bridge, I don't see this being possible. It'd be like Shout licensing out Halloween II to Severin, impossible because they don't own it. Echo Bridge doesn't own anything that you all have mentioned. I guess anythings possible though, but I wouldn't expect much. Their two goodies are already with Synapse. (Which I will state again, came from SimCom, not Echo Bridge like everyone has been saying in multiple threads) Last edited by redrunner97; 07-21-2013 at 07:47 AM. |

As for your second and more important point, I was under the impression that Miramax, which is about as much of a company now as New Line, actually sold the library to Echo Bridge. Last edited by tylergfoster; 07-21-2013 at 09:28 AM. |

The limitations of their deal, I have no clue. They may be able to license them out, but who knows. Better to assume not, which is the most likely answer, than to get our hopes up over nothing. |

I know non-miramax titles they have I would like to see are: WACKO (my #1) The Willies Howling: the original nightmare Ghoulies 4 Scarecrow Trilogy Killjoy Films Mortuary Legend of Boggy Creek Class of 1989 II Clive Barker's Dread Clive Barker's Books of Blood Cybertraker / Cybertraker 2 Doubt that they actually "own" any of these, but they would be nice releases from someone, someday... Interesting note:
Echo Bridge lists EVERY original Prom Night movie on their site. [Prom Night / Prom Night 2 / Prom Night 3 / Prom Night IV] http://www.echobridgeentertainment.c...current_page=4 So I'm guessing the rights to the rest of the series reverted back to SimCom, just as Prom Night 2 did earlier this year, and Echo Bridge now has DVD rights, but Synapse has already proven the blu-ray rights are separate. Other than being SimCom films, I noticed the film cans say SimCom on them, and in the FaceBook comment about Prom Night 2 he doesn't correct the poster who mentions SimCom, but he also doesn't say that they were from them either. Maybe someone could where he got them on facebook, since there are a couple possibilities??
EDIT: And Alliance did release the Prom Night Collection in Canada. Last edited by redrunner97; 07-21-2013 at 10:35 AM. |

He shot them down in response to a post I'd made about the TV movie market being severely underrepresented on DVD by saying they wouldn't sell. Obviously they changed their minds and decided to test the waters with 2 titles. I hope they're popular enough to move more than just a few copies so that by the time they get to the really good stuff they'll keep releasing them. As a side note, I'll never take a denial seriously again ![]() Last edited by Cinema84; 07-21-2013 at 10:43 AM. |

Deals can be complex for a number of reasons. But I do think the Scream Factory scenario is the most common and accurate. |

Announcements were pretty disappointing for me, especially with all the build up. I'm sure Scream will still deliver the goods in 2014 but I was hoping this con would get me excited for next year and I can't say it did.
Assault on Precinct 13 - this is the big one for me since I was looking to buy it Fri. to complete my Carpenter on Blu collection only to find out it is OOP a selling for min. $50. Hopefully it includes all the previous extras. I could see this announcement being a disappointment for those who own the previous release though. Darkman - this movie is in need of a special edition but its still not that exciting, and personally when I watched it last year I feel it didn't hold up very well. It would be more enticing if it was the whole trilogy so I could replace all my DVDs. Nightbreed: Cabal Cut - this is probably the big one. But since we already knew this was coming and it probably won't include the theatrical cut. Cat People (Remake) - I haven't seen this and the trailer didn't do much for me but it seems to be getting a lot of praise on here so I'll definitely give it a chance. Saturn 3 and Eve of Destruction - can't say I'm excited about these two. Like all Scream releases I'll stick pick them up and give them a chance. TV double feature - these titles aren't titles I hear too many people clamouring for, but the promise of more if they sell well is the most exciting announcement to me. We need Midnight Hour released! Although I would prefer it it was released on Blu since it already exists on DVD even though its OOP and ridiculously expensive! Either way not the most exciting announcements, but we all know Scream has lots more to deliver so its not a big deal. Scream still rocks! Last edited by spawningblue; 07-21-2013 at 02:17 PM. |

Echo Bridge also has The Reflecting Skin via Miramax. They released it as a P&S DVD so a Scream Factory release would be a revelation.

From Scream Factory's Facebook page...
**NEW KEY ART REVEAL!** Check out the newly-designed key art for our upcoming Blu-ray Collector's Edition of John Carpenter's ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13, nicely illustrated by artist James Rheem Davis. As most of you already knpw, we just announced this release last week at Comic Con and is planned for November. No additional info on our new extras at this time. ![]() |
