There's also a Region A Japanese disc, but will cost a little more to import probably...I got mine from cdjapan.

I love Without Warning. I used to watch my hbo VHS of it every fall. The movie has quite an atmosphere about it. The night scenes are creepy, the hysteria that builds in the tavern, the encounter in the cottage. It is a very underrated thriller with great actors and a great premise.

It wasn't made yesterday and it look 100 times better than any DVD released anywhere in the world. I doubt it could look better than it does.

You do realize that you paid for a film that was made in 1980 and on a low budget... Not Avatar.

These are generally not films that the studios would ever give special editions to, and Shout! doesn't have the resources to strike brand-new masters or do full restorations. I'll accept those limitations for films I enjoy. If you don't, then don't, but you can't demand that everyone feel the same as you do.

Terror Train and Halloween aren't the same, whatsoever.

Some movies age better than others, Terror Train was sourced from the best available to Shout, and it looked horrible but they did a phenomenal job of cleaning it up. It looks exponentionally better than anything else available for that film.

Terror Train's print was in bad shape, its not shout's fault. They didn't have the responsibility to store it properly or make sure it look well over the last 30 years. They did an amazing job working with what they had.

I thought the Terror Train transfer looked fine. The film has a soft look to it, thus the image looks the way it does. It did look far better than past cable showings I have seen of the film, which had an even hazier look similar to how Prom Night looks.

The 'Assault' artwork looks amazing I must say, and I hope a poster is included with the pre-order! The Image release has pretty lousy picture quality in my opinion, since it's boosted in contrast and such, thus making the image way too bright and destroying the atmosphere of the film. So I hope this new release will have it transferred properly this time around. So I'm happy about it's release.

I also hope they are able to find the actual film elements from the deleted NightBreed footage. Otherwise a blu-ray release is pointless and they may as well just issue it on dvd in standard definition. I am happy this is being released, since I never thought it would happen, and am a big fan of the film. But I have my fingers crossed, they search the Fox vaults and find the missing footage to restore it properly. And if the footage does not exist on film anymore and is lost/destroyed. Then I can accept the vhs source for the extra footage, but again think a blu-ray release is not worth it in that case unless the theatrical version is also included to experience in HD.

Cliff worked for Bci right?

Any chance you know who owns the rights to the film Monsters Be Gone: Bedtime Survival Kit?

I am hanging in there but it just gets a little difficult when you see a movie like Assault on Precinct 13 getting yet another release but WW hasnt had any.. Even Saturn 3 and Cat People had DVD releases before
Since you havent seen Without Warning its a space Alien hunting for prey ala Predator - the Alien is saved in the later part of the film which was a good idea because anytime sooner it would have ruined any suspense the film has. the Alien was played by the late Kevin Peter Hall who actually was the Predator a few years later. The movie has some gore, Jack Palance, Martin Landau ..I think its pretty creepy.

Another movie I hope will get released is the Rift - Endless Descent -

this reminds me of another little 80"s gem-- ALONE IN THE DARK with the same cast---
has this been mentioned before as a possibility for Scream?

I asked a couple of days ago and apparently it's with Lionsgate.

Why would a New Line Cinema/own by Warner Bros. title be with Lionsgate?

I think they're mixing up Alone in the Dark (2005), directed by Uwe Boll and an LG film, with Alone in the Dark (1982), a New Line film (available on dvd from Image).

I'm getting Darkman, Cat People, maybe Precinct 13, and maybe Nightbreed.

Cliff, how do you feel knowing that you have a Warner title because of a loophole? I'd be psyched. That's more than any non-Criterion company has gotten.
