Nope, different films. But, the "Schizoid" that was meant to be on the 4 Film DVD set has now been replaced with "What's the Matter with Helen?" and the release date has been bumped to October 8th.

So Ghosts of Mars would have been a reworking of Escape from Earth? Nice.

I have it. The film was made in 1995 but don't let that fool you - it's got a very 80's vibe. It's a fun film and well made, very effective horror entry from the director of Re-Animator. 88 Films' BD is a giant improvement over the old Full Moon fullscreen DVD in PQ - I highly recommend it (now if only they would release Tourist Trap). |

I watched the UK blu-ray the other day, and it is probably as good as it's going to look. I haven't seen the Full Moon version, so I can't compare, but the movie looks way better than the full screen DVD. Colors for the exterior scenes looked really good, and there is plenty of grain throughout. There are some scratches during the film. I mostly noticed them at the beginning, and then just here and there during the rest of the film. Of course, I may have just gotten used to them and not paid attention after a while. But I think it's a good release. The DTS HDMA 5.1 was really good. I think any issues with the picture quality are probably more source related than transfer related. It's loaded with special features, too.

I watched THE FOG last night and over all it was a good transfer, there were a few scenes that had a scratch running down the right side, I guess we can't expect a frame by frame remaster like Universal did with "JAWS" but I would have thought SF could have removed a few scratchs. I plan on watching all the Extras tonight.

So what was done with this transfer, exactly? I thought Dean Cundey supervised a whole new transfer, wouldn't have that included cleaning it up, removing scratches, dirt, etc? It's beginning to confuse me. |
