I know this isn't totally Scream Factory related, but I found this on youtube today and thought I would share.

Cat People isn't obscure, really.

I know plenty of non-horror fans that are aware of the film. It was also a hit at the time of release.

I agree that Saturn 3 and Eve of Destruction are poor choices, especially when they turn down Psycho 4, Poltergeist 3, etc. Just films they purposefully said "no, never gonna happen".

They just overlooked the ones like Motel Hell, Pumpkinhead, and Without Warning, I would assume. Or rather they felt there were others that they needed to get within their budget the first time around.

I was able to watch both X-Ray and Schizoid on Blu-ray yesterday.

X-Ray's transfer is much like the Video Dead's transfer, lots of grain (and to be honest what looks like noise) and the print is in rather rough shape in some spots, but it still looks pretty great. It's generally sharp and most definitely the best we have ever seen it look, widescreen and 1080p, it's amazing to see it this way.

The interview with the director is 12 minutes and has some decent tidbits. Nothing revelatory, but nice for fans.

Schizoid's transfer fairs better. It's sharper, and cleaner, I'm sure the elements used were in better shape it certainly looks that way. I'd never seen Schizoid before, but this too is certainly better than any VHS copy anyone has owned. Hospital Massacre is the better film IMO, but is the lesser of the two transfers but still very watchable of course.

The interview with Donna Wilkes is good. She talks about interesting relationships on set, and a bit about her career. The interview is 10 minutes long.
The original (and spoiler heavy trailer - as most slasher films trailers were) is also included for Schizoid.

I also just check out Q The Winged Serpent Blu-ray.
While I was a bit disappointed with the movie itself, Scream factory has pulled another Incredible Melting Man transfer. The transfer for Q is clean and sharp for most of the print with only very few moments of slight wear on the print. The stop motion scenes are noticeably murkier, but not so much so that it ruins the film and I suspect this was also the case on the BU DVD.

If I had a program that could do it I would take some screenshots, but alas I have not been able to find one.

FWIW, they seemed to have backed off on the firm "NO!" on Psycho IV. There was something on Facebook or Twitter a couple of weeks ago to the affect of "Just to clarify, nothing against Psycho IV and the talented people that worked on it. We have to make the best choices with out money in terms of picking the movies we think will sell the best. There are movies we think will be more popular than Psycho IV. That's not to say we would never revisit it. If Psycho I and II sell well, we might reconsider at a later date."

Personally, I'd love to see Psycho IV. I'd also like to see them do a double feature of Poltergeist II and III. I know Poltergeist II had its own pretty bare bones release, but I think Scream could do well with a II and III combo pack. Probably better than III itself would do.

Yeah if they put out the Poltergeist II/III combo I would definitely pick that up.

Is Saturn 3 a better film than William Malone's CREATURE? I know the villains are entirely different on each film but both are low-budget early-to-mid-80's sci-fi/horror flicks set in space. I was a bit bored by Creature but I've never seen Saturn 3.

And this is a first for me but I'd rather not see any more announcements from Shout, at least not 6 months in advance. Surprise me a couple of weeks before the street date(s). That way I won't have time to complain and chances will be higher I'll blind-buy

I watched The Incredible Melting Man today. Blind buy and I thought it was pretty good. Really cool gore effects and the PQ was really good for being a movie in the 70s. I don't get why the score on IMDB is so low for this though.

Just read on Facebook that Nightbreed is tentatively scheduled for a summer 2014 release.

As far as our home video release, we don't have any details yet to report only that we have this tentatively and loosely scheduled for a Summer 2014 release so stay tuned!
Someone should really update the OP.

I've always wondered why Poltergeist seems to come out on Warner and Poltergeist II was on MGM on its last release. I always thought Poltergeist was a MGM movie. Not sure I understand the video rights for that one.

Would love one day to see a Poltergeist trilogy pack like we're getting for Amityville, but that has never happened for that series.

Honestly, if any series could benefit from the Scream Factory treatment, Poltergeist would be it. There has never been a definitive edition of that movie. Every time it comes out, it's basically bare bones with no special features at all.

So yeah, I'd certainly love either a Poltergeist II/III double feature or just a Poltergeist trilogy set, but seeing as how Poltergeist appears to be with Warner, that wouldn't happen with Scream.

My wallet just jumped out the window!

The more I see the Vincent Price set, the more I want it. Still a bit pricey. Any chance it will go down in price overtime, or is it one of those types of sets (Like the Universal Monsters Collection) that won't be dropping much, if at all?
