DVDTalk gives the Howling the recommendation of collector series. Seems like I can't go wrong. How does it compare to Phantasm 2?

Loved this film when I saw it on TV
if you liked the first phantasm then you will almost certainly like part 2. that being said I wasn't to thrilled with phantasm 2s transfer. it has been the only scream release that I was kind of disappointed with.

I did something unthinkable.

Cancelled my preorder of Scanners 2 /3 and ordered Criterion's Kuroneko.

I'll get Scanners 2 / 3 when Criterion gets out the original, unless its not out by xmas, in which case I'll grab their.

Anyone seen the Criterion I ordered. Is it good. Its a blind buy.

I agree, to me it look like the black levels we're way off, among other things. And the sound a bit.

Y tu Mama tambien was teased in their 2012 illustration, and it still hasn't been announced. There may be others as well.

I've heard this was the case. Worth a purchase anyways?

Dagnabbit, you're right. Don't know how that got by me. Criterion: you snooze, you lose.

Ok so this is why Amazon doesn't have The Brood in stock at the moment. There was issues with the original pressings(some blu-ray players could not access the special features). According to Second Sight the issue has been fixed and orders of the new stock has already been shipped out. So I am assuming it will pop back up on Amazon.uk any day now.

if your a fan of 70s and 80s horror then just about every scream release (especially the collectors editions) is worth the purchase. I even liked deadly blessing

im not the kind of person who wont watch or enjoy a blu ray because its not up to standards PQ wise. so I would say yes. phantasm 2 is a good movie and if your going to watch it for the first time it should be the blu ray.

the howling is as close as scream has come to putting together the total package in my opinion.

me too-- I can't believe that people don't have an issue with that static line (can't remember the technical term) that runs across the top of the screen for the entire movie

They Live is my #1 recommendation. It's the epitome of a good movie with good extras and good quality.

I'm a little selective when it comes to horror movies. I like a lot, but not everything. My top 5 fave Scream Factory releases in chrono are:

The Fog
Halloween II
The Howling
Halloween III
They Live

The Fun House is worth a buy and looks really good. I enjoy Terror Train and the Island as well, but did not care for Lifeforce - I didn't really care for it when I first saw it back in the day and thought I 'd give it another chance... consequently, it's the only Scream Factory tittle I've purchased that is not sitting in my blu-ray collection.

I'm really looking forward to getting The Vincent Price Collection, Prince of Darkness, Psyhco II, Night of the Comet, and Assault on Precinct 13. I'm still crossing my fingers for The Burb's, Nightmares, an HD transfer of Kingdom of the Spiders and some sense that Count Yorga would make a decent selling Scream Factory release.

I have an old fullscreen dvd of the basketball dairies like that. I havent upgraded it to blu ray yet and had an urge to watch it, I had forgot it was fullscreen which is bad enough but then it had a line like you mentioned that flickered in the same spot on the left letterbox bar for the entire movie, its completely unwatchable.
