So are we to assume then that Day didn't receive a 2k transfer? Perhaps there will be more technical info on the back cover.

The Fun House is worth a buy and looks really good. I enjoy Terror Train and the Island as well, but did not care for Lifeforce - I didn't really care for it when I first saw it back in the day and thought I 'd give it another chance... consequently, it's the only Scream Factory tittle I've purchased that is not sitting in my blu-ray collection.

I'm really looking forward to getting The Vincent Price Collection, Prince of Darkness, Psyhco II, Night of the Comet, and Assault on Precinct 13. I'm still crossing my fingers for The Burb's, Nightmares, an HD transfer of Kingdom of the Spiders and some sense that Count Yorga would make a decent selling Scream Factory release.
Surprised you don't have The Burning up there, I love that movie and the blu ray in nice looking for the material.

Deadly Blessing is fine by me, too.

And they should have specified on the sticker about Day of the Dead, but the fact that they didn't means??

...Nothing, but you'd think they'd hype the fact if it were true.

I really enjoyed Deadly Blessing. Kind of a shame that it's (thus far) Scream Factory's 'worst' seller.

I wonder what that will mean for other Wes Craven films.

do you know what other titles have not sold well for SCREAM?

Just curious as it can relate to future titles being released (or not)

What static line? You got photos of proof?

I didn't notice a static line but it did look a little warm. Flesh tones were a little rosy but I still enjoyed the transfer and noticed little details I hadn't seen before.

Unless Taurus provided the transfer themselves, I'd assume it's probably a 1080P HD telecine transfer.

Shout Factory- only works with what the licensors give them, they don't do new scans.
As grateful as I am for Halloween II, III, and They Live- they are just average Universal transfers that people would slam if they weren't put out by Shout Factory.
They apply tweaks to the transfers they get, but on something like The Howling or Day of The Dead- there's nothing they can do to actually meaningfully improve anything...
Not true. I supervised almost every Corman transfer and we did Deadly Blessing and Death Valley.... And I could list a lot more.
We don't do scans because they are expensive and we don't own the films.
I stand corrected and beg your forgiveness.
I am sorry.

What I meant to say is- with something already out in HD, I don't expect much improvement.
I say this because you don't do new scans.
Either way I'll buy everything you guys do- always have and will.
You can still get a great looking master from telecine. Not every studio transfer is a 2K or 4K scan.

There's a group over on Facebook (here) that's been pushing for this for some time.

(I admit that this isn't strictly a blu-ray question, as a DVD would please them, too, if the quality were there. The problem is that seasons 1 and 2 were released by CBS as the studio owned the rights, but stopped there.)

Thanks in advance for anything you can do.
Nope...and we wouldn't scan a negative for show we don't own. It's too costly.
Hey, now this gets interesting.

If both a negative and a positive were offered to you, wouldn't the scanning cost be the same? If not, what am I missing?

Second, if you don't own a show, well, okay, so you license the rights. So, you are implying the owners charge a different rate to loan a positive for a scan versus loaning a negative for a scan? Could you give us a feel for the difference in licensing costs?

Thanks for the insight. I never considered this previously.

-Jim
Any scanning costs more than doing a telecine film transfer.

Thanks for doing the digging, zbinks. And RIP Karen Black - let's not let her extensive horror CV overshadow the wonderful work she did in classic New Hollywood films like Five Easy Pieces and Nashville.

That's an early sample from the Scream Factory Facebook page.

Ah okay. I knew this was over a month away for the US, and some folks get it early, but I didn't think that early!

I've got this in my Amazon cart, and I'm hovering on the "order now" button. I saw this a really long time ago, so this release would probably be like a brand new experience.
