Scream Factory better put out Shock Treatment and/or Phantom of the Paradise soon.
I think we've inspired some people on facebook to ask about it (Shock Treatment).
There have been about 3 quieries in the last couple days.

So be sure to voice your Shocky vote on facebook or twitter, I don't frequent my fb a lot, I'm more of a twitter/instagram guy, but they seem to pay close attention to facebook requests.

Did anybody here see (clips of or the whole movie of) a horror film in their youth and revisit it when they were older only to find that it wasn't scary?

I can think of two examples myself: Gremlins (Age 4) and Cutting Class (Age 8).

Pity Scream isn't going to release Dracula (1979), I would have loved for a 35th Anniversary Edition next year with a good restoration, the correct color and a new documentary with some cast interviews. Oh well I cannot stand the current DVD which stinks because I love this film. Same with Nighthawks, when the song in the nightclub was changed it killed the whole scene between Sylvester Stallone and Rutger Hauer. Hopefully that may be a title Shout can get and do a proper release of.

The Exorcist, for reasons already stated.

There was also an episode of Tales From The Crypt. The one with
[Show spoiler]the vampires living under the graveyard that end up eating the main character
. That scene was really disturbing to me, but after marathoning the series last October I found it pretty tame.

I think Dracula might be with a different distributor than MGM? I'm not sure.
I know it should be, but I think an independent rightsholder may now own it.
Almost like the rights lapsed. I'm probably wrong though.

And I would love NightHawks on blu-ray, I think its Scream enough, after all it was one of the Terror in the Aisles films.

Dracula (1979) was a Universal picture.

I knew I was wrong anyway.

Just goes to show you, I'm always right, even when I'm wrong.

Everyone is probably going to laugh at me, but the 1978 version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers scared me to death when I was a kid, and it's still the most unsettling film in my collection.

I saw this film for the first time when I was eight years old, and, even then, the paranoid vibe of the movie during the first half really got to me. Just that feeling that I could wake up one day, everyone around me would be not quite right, and I would be all alone in the world. The very end of the movie was insane for me to see at that age, and I had nightmares for a while, but I think that the general aesthetic of the movie creeped me out more than anything. The movie is filmed so insidiously, with the point of view depicted through cracked windshields, shattered mirrors, foggy windows, and such.
The dog with the human face...Jesus Mary Mother of God...that scene still freaks me out.

The Blu-ray of the 1978 Invasion of the Body Snatchers is tremendous. It's easily one of the best-looking transfers of a 1970s movie out there.

I'm rarely outright scared by horror movies, and I go into them as though I'm just enjoying a roller coaster ride. The 1978 Invasion of the Body Snatchers got me, though.

I have seen the 1978 version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers many times and no other movie can compare to the Paranoia expect maybe John Carpenter's THE THING. I recently watched the Blu-Ray again and tried watching it from the Pod Peoples point of view and I must say no war, no crime, no poverty, no sickness.... Not a bad deal and the best part is all you have to do is fall asleep, what could be easier??

The 1956 and 1978 versions of Invasion of the Body Snatchers are both nothing short of outstanding. They're both essential movies for different reasons, and the 1978 version does a stellar job of reinterpreting the original story into a metropolis setting. The current Blu-rays of both movies are wonderful

As I posted above, the 1978 version is truly chilling, and I love revisiting the movie via the Blu-ray just to admire how the filmmakers pulled it off.

No mockery from me. My girlfriend wanted scary movies to watch before we lived together and I kind of foolishly recommended IOTBS78' because personally, it really gets under my skin and burrows into my psyche. I got exposed to it only like 2 years ago and so it's all the more impressive how frightening I find it on a psychological level. The paranoid atmosphere and the execution of feeling so claustrophobically ALONE in such a big city was pulled off pretty much flawlessly in my opinion.

I'm a big fan of the movie but I also find it really genuinely unsettling so I'm right there with you. My girlfriend thought it was silly and boring *hands head in shame* lol

Since everyone is discussing their most frighting film experience I have to say the movie that freaked me out the most when I was a kid was Fire in the Sky. I spent the whole summer a 94' afraid to outside! True story.

I've been trying to think of a film that's scared me and I can't think of any. I honestly don't think I've ever been scared watching one before.
