I can count on one hand the number of times that I've actually been outright scared during a movie, and these instances were all during my childhood.

I'm unsettled by a lot of movies, though. As long as a horror movie is intense and unsettling, then that's all I ask for these days.

I honestly feel In the mouth of Madness is pretty scary too. The whole idea of this continuous never ending loop fading in and out between reality is pretty frightening.

A couple more that freaked me out when I was a kid...

Once Upon a Time in the West
When I was quite young, maybe 7 or 8, I happened to see the early part of this movie on TBS SuperStation one Saturday afternoon, and watched the scene where Henry Fonda and his gang come out the brush and shoot the entire family. The remorseless look on Fonda's face when he shoots the boy really scared me back then. My family and I lived in a house on the border of a big forest at the time, and, for weeks after that movie, I kept having nightmares about gunmen walking into the backyard and killing me and my whole family. We did not live on a railroad baron's prospective property, though, so we turned out okay.

John Carpenter's Assault on Precinct 13
Yeahhhh... Scream Factory represent!
I stumbled across Assault on Precinct 13 on television when I was 10 or so, and I had nightmares for a while after that about street gangs and such. The scene with the annoying cute little girl and the ice cream man... Like everyone else seeing the film for the first time, I was thinking, "WTF? No way that just happened!"

The movie that scared me bad enough when I was a kid, so much so that I still can't watch it to this day, is It's Alive. The thought of killer babies crawling at me scares the crap out of me. I was at a horror convention a few years ago and a vendor in the dealer room had a doll of the baby from It's alive and I freaked out and had to leave the room. I used to be scared of the Exorcist but after watching it later in life, it just seemed comical to me. Linda Blair sure filled out nicely though.

I just did a search and I guess It's Alive, the original isn't out on Blu-ray. Has Scream looked at it? Maybe I will try watching it again if they do.

your not the only one. horror movies never really scared me. by the time I was ten I watching all the Friday the 13th movies on a regular basis. evil dead, nightmare on elm street and all the movies like them were always more fun then scary. but fire in the sky and communion really got me. I was terrified of being abducted as a child. I didn't sleep well for al ong time after seeing those movies. communion would be a great pick up for scream if its possible

The one that scared me the most as a kid was The Evil. I haven't seen it since and it would be very interesting to watch now.

Is that the one with the people fixing up a big hotel and the dog opens a gate to Hell in the basement and the house locks them in? If so there is a scene where a guy is trying to cut open a door with a circular saw and the devil makes him cut his fingers off. Great movie...got a "copy" on DVD.

Yep, that's it! Wish Scream would release the BD.

I picked up a copy on DVD at a horror convention. Not a bad copy for what it is. I still pull it out once in a while. It's a good creepy little movie.

Im still creeped out by In The Mouth Of Madness, where
[Show spoiler]they are driving down that road and that creepy guy on the bike come riding by, then they end up hitting him. I'm still creeped out by that guy

Also, I was always creeped out by Poltergeist III. Sure, it was the cheesiest one, but a personal favorite of mine. That old guy scared me as a child.

I prefer the guy who played Kane in the second, not particularly scary, but he gave me a wicked Fire Marshal Bill vibe. I still only will watch Poltergeist 1&2.

I saw this film for the first time when I was eight years old, and, even then, the paranoid vibe of the movie during the first half really got to me. Just that feeling that I could wake up one day, everyone around me would be not quite right, and I would be all alone in the world. The very end of the movie was insane for me to see at that age, and I had nightmares for a while, but I think that the general aesthetic of the movie creeped me out more than anything. The movie is filmed so insidiously, with the point of view depicted through cracked windshields, shattered mirrors, foggy windows, and such.
The dog with the human face...Jesus Mary Mother of God...that scene still freaks me out.

The Blu-ray of the 1978 Invasion of the Body Snatchers is tremendous. It's easily one of the best-looking transfers of a 1970s movie out there.

I'm rarely outright scared by horror movies, and I go into them as though I'm just enjoying a roller coaster ride. The 1978 Invasion of the Body Snatchers got me, though.
Not going to hear me laugh at you. That scared the shit out of me as well. However I WILL get laughed at... Blood Beach was the one that scared me the most. Living in Clearwater (Outside of Tampa) Florida growing up, that movie made it impossible for me to go out on the beach after dark. I haven't seen it for years, so I would probably just laugh at it now.
