Missed out on the Town That Dreaded Sundown for 12 and change. Went off sale within a few hours

Either way, I'm sad we're not getting one this year. Ever since the Saw franchise ended, Paranormal Activity became my new Halloween tradition.

I mean what's coming out that week?

"Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa"

Well, that's terrifying, but not in the same way.

-People already assume that all DVD/Blu Ray releases have English subtitles (if the film was shot in America) so that's really not a selling point for most people since it's assumed that they're already included on the release. (It doesn't matter if they are actually on there or not since people just assume so and don't bother checking.)

-Catchy covers do still catch the eye's of people all the time, whether that's old fans or new fans, flashy art does still attract people to look at a release and ultimately possibly make a purchase. Therefore, flashy artwork DOES impact sales in a meaningful way, where as English Subs would not meaningfully impact total sales.

I don't doubt that including English subs would in fact add a FEW more sales for the few people that actively look for them, however to say that the few people that purchase a film because of that, outnumber the number of people that Blind Buy based on what they see in front of them on the cover, is just false. If people weren't drawn to flashy covers and unique artwork then there'd be no need for Commercials, special displays, Slipcovers, or all the crap in the front aisles of a store. Impulse buys (Brought on by flashy cover art for instance) push FAR more people to make a purchase then the addition of text in a movie.

I'd be willing to wager that in the order of importance on a new release, the addition of english Subs would fall to bottom behind Picture Quality, Audio quality, Special Features, and yes even Cover art and whether it includes a slip cover.
This is a whole lot of speculation on your part, most of which I don't happen to agree with. Let's just agree to disagree, yeah?

Sounds good...

Moving on, as for the Paranormal Activity talk... the Spin off is supposed to be a Latino based film meaning that it's going to be more culturally relevant for that subset, and since a good deal of Hispanic people are Catholic, it's all but confirmed that this film will take a more traditional religious perspective (In fact I'm pretty sure this was confirmed some time ago). It is still about the same demon/entity by my understanding, but things are going to take on a more catholic based angle. So less Pagan witches, and more The Exorcist/The Omen style shenanigans by my guess. I for one am very interested.

Here is the teaser trailer from after the credits in Paranormal activity 4

At the end of Paranormal activity 4
[Show spoiler]when Katie is chasing the other girl through the house in the dark
there is a scene where we get a pretty close up look at
[Show spoiler]Newspapers hanging over the windows. These Newspapers are in spanish if you look close.
By my guess this film is going to bridge the gap from Part 2 and Part 4.

I agree completely... My wife has always taken vacation and we've gone to the Matinee showing on the Friday they came out each year for the past 4 years. I'm expecting my first child this December and I was hoping to take in one more showing this year as I doubt she'll go with me again...

Bottom line is: the commissioned artwork is a waste of money, and it would be better spent on things like quality control, making sure all of their blu-rays have ENG subtitles, etc.
By the way, I'm a teenager (16) and I will check(ed) things out on YouTube and (not anymore) through torrents. If I liked it, I would buy it. In fact, this is how I discovered all of the Kevin Smith Askewniverse Films (my favorite franchise of all time), including one of my favorite films ever (Clerks 2).

I think that now it's time for another January title, seeing as all of the art that they have to announce for 2013 is the original posters of Body Bags, Night of the Comet, Assault on Precinct 13, and Darkman. Here's hoping.

Also, I've noticed something. A slight comeback of the Friday Announcements.
August 2nd, The Beast Within art.
Last week, Amityville extras.
Today, Darkman art.

I'm not even going to speculate... All I'll say is that I hope the next announcement is a Horror title and leave it at that.

Ah what the hell... Come on "Tales from the Crypt Demon Night!"

Been turned down. However, as you can see, I'm a fan of that film. I would love the hell out of that announcement. Bordello of Blood too.

There's nothing to speculate about, really.

We know they've got some more Universal titles, presumably, and some more ITV ones too.

Killer Fish, Shocker, etc.

There's no way to know exactly what they have.

IF they made or are making another Fox deal, maybe they'll get or have gotten Shocky.

The rest is still a matter of WHAT!
We don't know.

I just hope they hurry up.

Would you expect it to be a CE or a regular non-special release?

The rights to Fox's Hammer titles may have already reverted back to Hammer / Exclusive Media.

So that would make them Millennium, right?
They're the ones distributing some of the original Hammer films in the US.

Collector's Edition.
Couldn't see it any other way, tbh.

Plus Cliff did say he liked it, so of course it (probably) would be.
Assuming they ever get it.
