They're a bit newer then what we're accustomed to, but considering they've been out for a few years now, and there is still no US Blu Ray, I think they'd be a really solid addition. I own the Canadian Box set, and it's nice enough that I wouldn't necessarily need an upgrade, but for all the people that missed out on this franchise this would be a golden opportunity. I liked part 1 and LOVED part 2. I'm Curious if that would be possible in the coming years.
Scream would need to make a deal with Sony for [rec] and Magnolia for [rec] 2. Sony's probably a longshot, and I'm unsure if Shout! Factory has ever worked with Magnolia before.

I love [Rec] 1 & 2, but those movies are a bit too new and don't seem to be in the realm of what the Scream line is out to do.

I'm all for uniformity demonknight. My take when it comes to these "Scream" titles is basically, if they come with a slipcover I display them with the slipcover even as dreadful as some may be, but I always, always reverse the cover art to the original theatrical art. In some cases where some releases aren't deserving of a slipcover created for them or I simply did not receive a slip for a release that a slip was created for, I display all those titles next to the block of cases with slipcovers on them.

So, for instance if you looked at my shelf you would see every single "Scream" release in order of when they came out, with the slips on and after the latest release my "Scream" titles without slips begin, which starts with "Terror Train" considering it's the only Collector's Edition release I didn't get a slip with. Then the "TerrorVision" release follows that one and then "Town..." and so on.

How long do distribution deals usually last? I've always wondered this as it relates to many of the Scream discussions. The [REC] Box set was released in 2011, but the films themselves were from 2007 & 2009. Assuming that they're still under the original distribution agreement, if it were only for 5 years, then a potential 2014/2015 release would be feasible, but I have no idea how long such deals last so I'm sure I'm just dreaming.

A critic friend of mine has Day of the Dead in-hand! It's kind of exciting how far in advance Shout! ships these things.

How do you guys feel about Stephen King's "The Night Flier" film adaption getting a "Scream Factory" treatment, even if maybe as a double feature with another King adaption?

I ask because there seems to be some happenings going on with the flick. Not only has a petition (https://www.change.org/petitions/new...ier-on-blu-ray) been started, with very few signatures unfortunately.

BUT...

Over one hour of "lost" footage as been found and uploaded to YouTube. The footage is for the most part all behind the scenes happenings, but for fans of this film, this is quite the discovery. Apparently it was uploaded to try to help spark interest, along with the petition to help get the film a home on blu-ray format.

Here's the footage, enjoy. (If you have the time.)

Cliff said at one point that their titles should be available for about 5 years after their release dates, but I don't think there's an industry standard. It basically depends on what the licensor and licensee are willing to agree to.

Stephen King's THE NIGHT FLIER - Never Before Seen Footage! - YouTube
I'm all for any Stephen King film getting the Blu ray treatment. I haven't watched the Night Flyer before, however I saw the article about the newly found footage and was intrigued. Stephen King films were a staple of my early 90's, so I'll take anything if it means we can get everything at some point.

I'm all for it, but it all depends on Richard P. Rubinstein (New Amsterdam Entertainment / MKR Group). Back in May, Cliff mentioned that he tried negotiating Dawn of the Dead with them without any luck. He didn't really mention how far he got with his attempts or if The Night Flier or Martin came up in any discussions.

It would just be pure speculation, but couldn't he have been "stingy" on Dawn because of the 3D version he was pushing.

I would definitely welcome it. The movie is actually surprisingly pretty good. That being said, I remember that Cliff said that the producer of the movie was asking for funding for a remake as part of the deal....or something of that sort. That's why they declined, but you never know.

Where did you order it from? I just ordered Halloween II from Bestbuy.com on Thursday and am keeping my fingers crossed I'll get a slip. My next purchase will likely be the Subspecies trilogy next Friday, but after that I'll be likely purchasing a copy of Halloween 3 myself, so it's good to keep tabs on where people are still receiving slips from.

Fright Night (2011) is getting a modern sequel soon... ie. Fright Night 2 (2013). So there will be a new Fright Night 2, but not the original 1989 film you're thinking of.
