It has been said that they cannot, as they don't know who owns it. If this is no longer the case, I would love them to release it.

Nobody seems to really know who even has the rights to FN2.

If no one knows who owns it, then no one can release it until they figure that out since they wouldn't even know where to go to find the original materials.

How?

If no one knows who owns it, then NOBODY can release it...
It would be illegal on multiple levels.

You know. Synapse or Shout Factory should say that they have it. Then, the real owners will complain and come to light. (This is entirely stupid, I know.)

That would work lol. It be funny if both companies said they were releasing it.

But then they could still get sued.
Not for releasing it, but I'm sure that's illegal somehow.

I'm not sure If they've done it, but maybe contact the producers/direcor to see if they know.
Typically they stay in the loop on who has their film.

Bluraybin

They are one of the few sites that I know of that you can actually check to see if the item ships with a slipcover or not. Under the technical specs it will have it listed.

I bought the last one though. I called just to make sure it did come with a slipcover, and they said it did.

Someone should ask Tommy Lee Walace he also directed Halloween 3 and did fright night 2 he would know. Its so weird that theres only been a dvd out and out of print.

Watch. Soon, they'll find out that who owns the rights was buried with Roddy McDowall.

Actually, I just looked it up and it says there's one left. Weird, you might want to give them an email to double check.

It's $24.99, but with shipping it's like $27+. Unless you add something to qualify for free shipping, you'll only need one more penny for that.

Have any networks run Fright Night 2 on HDtv? I did a quick search and did see some files created that seem to state that at least one network somewhere in the world has run the film in the past few years. Chatting with the people in charge of those networks (if we could figure out who they are) would lead to whomever owns the film I would assume as there must be some sort of agreement in place to allow it to air on tv.

Paramount has the TV rights.

In all seriousness, the home video rights are a mystery. Only one Vista Organization title has made the leap to Blu-Ray, Jeff Lieberman's Remote Control, and that was released by Lieberman himself. Artisan (now Lionsgate) apparently had the rights as recently as August 2003, but I have a feeling those rights expired causing the DVD to go out of print almost immediately after it was released.

What too dark? Or that it will never be recovered? I miss Roddy McDowall more than most actors... I miss Fright Night Part 2 a lot too.
