Be happy you had that. I went to Crypticon here in KC this weekend and I found 6 blu-rays in the entire dealer room. I do miss Monster Mania but the guest list hasn't been as good as it used to be a few years ago. Hard to justify flying halfway across the country to meet celebs I have met several times before. Do miss the parties though.

Definitely agree about the guests. Don't get me wrong, George Romero, Malcolm McDowell, Christopher Lloyd, Danny Glover and Carrie Fisher are all incredible guests, but they've had Romero and McDowell before, and the others aren't exactly horror stars (although they are still great). However, my only thing is that it feels top heavy. We got 5 amazing vip guests, but the rest left much to be desired. Than again, I may have just been spoiled by how incredible MM has always been. I just hope they stick to horror, because the next show in Maryland if focusing on Batman. One of the reasons I have little interest in Chiller anymore is because they just seem to get random guests, few that are even involved in horror. None the less, MM continues to be incredible and my favorite convention, I just would like to make a couple tweaks.

I hope Shout will release House 1, 2, and 4 on blu ray since they are releasing The Horror Show (aka House 3 in Europe).

1&2 are with Image. 4 is with New Line/Warner. So, sadly, no.

Perhaps Universal could loan Scream Factory Army of Darkness on a condition: that they only release "The Extended Director's Cut". That way, Universal can keep their edition in print knowing that they only gave Shout! the rights to an alternate version of the film.

Universal's DVD of Army of Darkness remained in print through 6 Anchor Bay editions. It doesn't matter to Universal, only to Warner -- you'll probably never see the Nightbreed legal tango with any other studio's films.

Yes. But they said that it wouldn't happen, and Cliff keeps trying to finagle it out of them.

Well, a) I'm not surprised that Universal will no longer license it, since Anchor Bay made a cottage industry out of it, and b) I don't want Shout! to get AoD anyway, so that's good news, in my opinion.

I love AoD, but please, even if there's no definitive US release, let's go after things that haven't been done to death. I don't need Shout to get Halloween or Escape From New York or anything else that has perfectly decent special editions done by other companies.

That's entirely your opinion, and, while you are entitled to it, more people would probably be in line to agree with me rather than disagree.

All the DVDs and blu-rays were so over priced (especially since many weren't even sealed). I was hoping to find some Scream, Severin, Synapse, or any other horror releases that aren't in stores (with a cheaper price than online), yet I found absolutely nothing. Aside from Diabolik's table (which were full retail price), I couldn't find any blu-rays that I wouldn't be able to get at any B&M stores. I think Scream should definitely consider attending future shows. Even if they just offer their titles say $5 cheaper than online, they could really sell a lot.
Most conventions highly overcharge for their merch. I don't even go go gun shows anymore like I used to. The markups are so insane, you'd think the pistols and rifles they were selling were laser guided bombs and starfleet hand phasers.

I mean, if they got AoD, I wouldn't complain. I would finally own a copy of the movie if they got that French / German master (no dice if they used Universal's US transfer), and I'd be stoked if Red Shirt did a great 90-minute doc like they did for Evil Dead II, which, despite all the editions, AoD has never had (plus of course retaining the commentary and deleted scenes). It's just not a priority for me, though, and I get tired of people asking for the same 20 extremely high-profile horror titles that have already had multiple releases, and releases on Blu-Ray in the United States.

People asking for Halloween or Escape From NY feels like greed to me, because the new releases by the studios are unsatisfactory for the kind of petty reasons the studios ought to fix themselves, rather than relying on a specialty label to do it.

Anyone notice they couldn't find any good quotes from a review for the back cover of "Psycho III"?

Since we're on the topic of Evil Dead...

With the original, which edition would I need to get on DVD to equal the bonus disc from the limited blu-ray.

Cuz that seems cheaper than buying the oop bd. I'll just get the dvd special features disc from a dvd editon and slide it in... Will that still feature the same ones as the limited bd?
