That list reminds me: Who has the rights to Cannibal Apocalypse now?

Some others I wouldn't mind seeing from that list (where rights might be up in the air) posted by zbinks:

Funeral Home
Pit, The
Inseminoid
Slayer, The
Mausoleum
Final Terror, The
Lift, The
Scalps
Massacre in Dinosaur Valley
Creature (1985)
Mutilator, The (I can dream, can't I? )
Link
Sorority House Massacre
Gothic
Witchboard (1986)
Kindred, The (Is this with Synapse?)
StageFright (1987)
Slaughterhouse (1987)
Amsterdamned
American Gothic
Pin
Fright Night Part II (Obviously!)
Church, The
Society
Dr. Caligari

Although, I don't think a lot of these would qualify as "popular". The only ones that fit the "popular" criteria (which is hard to judge, of course): Gothic, Witchboard, StageFright, Fright Night Part II, The Church, and Society.

[PURE SPECULATION MODE]

I know Cliff said they passed on them and it was thought that Synapse was the favorite to land the rights, but we still haven't heard anything more about Night of the Demons and Witchboard Blu-Rays. Might Scream Factory have gotten themselves right back into the mix?

Could Madman be available? Code Red apparently won't be pressing any more copies and it's now sold out.

[/PURE SPECULATION MODE]

Edit: Madman is back in stock as of 08/25/2013.

I would love all three of those titles!

What are the chances Scarecrows and Dolls are part of the deal?

Both are apparently still with MGM. I think Shout! Factory will work out a second deal with MGM at some point, but I can't see them working out a deal that involves only one or two potential Scream Factory titles.

Scarecrows would likely be paired with another film if Scream got it (something like After Midnight or Night Visitor).

If a second deal with MGM occurs, does that mean we could see Pumpkinhead?

I'd actually really like to see Lady in White and The Changeling on Blu as well, though being traditional 'Ghost Stories', I'm not sure they're quite the market Scream Factory's catering towards...

I can already imagine the awesome artwork possibilities Scream might come up with for Night of the Demons and Fright Night II if they were to acquire them.

Many of the slasher titles mentioned above are unlikely candidates for Shout IMHO. They have released a good number of them but if you look at their overall library since even before the Corman stuff, most are monster movies (Humanoids From the Deep, Terror Within, Timewalker), haunted house (The Evil, Twice Dead), and lots of low-budget sci-fi flicks. I hope to be proven wrong but slashers just don't seem to be their favorite genre (X-Ray and Schizoid notwithstanding).

A few more titles I've like to see in the future:

- Honeymoon (French horror film with Nathalie Baye)
- Fear (the Mark Wahlberg/Reese Witherspoon thriller)
- Bullies (Canadian revenge flick that Universal distributed)
- Tourist Trap

"Fear" was just released by Universal on Blu-ray this past January. Looks pretty good too.

I've got my fingers crossed.

Lady in White is another MGM possibility.

I've got my fingers crossed for The Changeling too. I don't think Scream Factory would pass it up if the opportunity presented itself.

Visiting Hours, The Slumber Party Massacre Trilogy, Halloween II, Terror Train, Death Valley, Deadly Blessing, The Burning and Cold Prey II all say "Hi, did you forget about us?"

Don't forget about Bad Dreams, The Stepfather, The Funhouse, Prison and The Town that Dreaded Sundown either. They may not be slashers, per se, but they do have some kinship with that particular subgenre.

My dream MGM title would be a fully uncut release of Serrador's The House That Screamed (aka La residencia aka Finishing School). It's a terrific film.

People were talking about THE GATE a few pages back and I just remembered that the film had a sequel. I checked and GATE II was never released on DVD in the US. Does anyone know who has the rights and what does everyone think of the film?

I'm pretty sure it's with Sony.

Some company called Vision PDG had it last time I looked back when it originally came out with VHS & Laser disc but I don't know where they are now.
