It's not even a contender as far as anyone else is concerned.

It's rights are mid-despute with Code Red and a fan.

I don't think it was ever confirmed, only rumored. I actually seem to recall Synapse commenting at one point that they were negotiating, but thought the rights would ultimately wind up with Image.

Edit: Found the post I was thinking of.

I'm not sure what the source of the rumor was for Synapse acquiring the film or Don May saying it'd likely wind up with Image, but to my knowledge. Synapse never officially commented one way or the other.

Then I found this pair of posts from early June:

I would love for Shout to get a deal with Filmax for the Fantastic Factory titles lionsgate f'ed up on DVD, titles like Faust, The Nun, Beneath Still Waters, Rottweiler, Werewolf Hunter , Beyond Re-Animator, Dagon and Arachnid.

Also for Shout to make a deal with Brian Yuzna for Society and Bride of Re-Animator .

A deal with After Dark Films, they got a lot of Horror movies (@lionsgate) that have not been on Blu also the Action films they produced (@ Warners) like Van Dammes Dragon Eyes, Lundgren Stash House, Scott Adkins in El gringo.

Also shout (not scream factory) should make a deal with Millennium Films to distribute the Nu Image catalog, lots of B-action movies as well as B-horror movies not available on Blu.

Just throwing ideas in the air here. Most of this might not be possible.

Sadly, most of them... Millenium has there own releasing company so I don't see them licensing. I've noticed a lot of catalog four pack in Best Buy lately.

Lionsgate just isn't interested in doing a deal.

The After Dark films are at Warner.

Not sure we'll ever crack Warner. I'm sure they gave Criterion BADLANDS at the request of the director.

So, Cliff essentially shot down every title...except Society.

Doesn't even remotely fit the bill in any way.
I'd be okay with the sequels. From what I've seen of each movie (clips and reviews, mind you) I think I'd like 2 and 3 better anyways. The tone just appeals to me more.

They're all 3 personal favorites, 3 is my personal favorite.

But they still don't fit the description as well as Witchboard and Night of the Demons.

Oh, man, if Xtro got a release I would be ecstatic. But I doubt that's any of them, sadly.

Lol. I love part 3, even more so than 2 or even the original.

It doesn't fit the criteria for what's being announced, but I'd love to see My Best Friend's a Vampire get released one day. It's a fun campy vampire film! Since Lionsgate released the dvd, it's probably a no go.

Dear God, I would be in heaven if those two were released. They're my two most wanted Blu-rays... Well, horror Blu-rays, anyway. I refuse to get excited, though. The announcements will probably be something random. Probably, like, "Pulse (1988)" and "Lords of the Deep (1989)". Haha!

Yeah, I won't be panting like a schoolgirl in love anytime soon either. Everybody has a dream title or two they'd like to see but there have been so many good titles turned down there's practically nothing left to wish for. A couple of variables to consider that may "water down" today's announcements for some: it could be movies that have already been released on DVD or it could be titles that have been announced or released overseas (Motel Hell, etc). Personally, in both cases there wouldn't be anything worth getting excited about but if the titles they're announcing are never-before-released then there's cause for celebration.

Their hint specifically said that these two have never been on blu-ray before.

Society just got a new transfer done recently, Capelight and Second Sight will be releasing it next year. So it is possible.

I have never seen THE JITTERS but I always wanted to, maybe in a couple years when SF is scrapping the bottom of the barrel they will consider picking up this very obscure title:
