I doubt they have Chopping Mall, especially if its the one their about to announce, because the article also mentions that other 80s movie...

Anyway, I don't think they outright deny unless its a biggie, like Halloween 3 or Night of the Demons. (They apparently consider those big).

Plus I really think Lionsgate still has the rights.
But it'd be nice if Scream did have them, I just doubt it.

I've tried to get through Carrie (1/3) and Blow Out (1/3).
im not a fan of Carrie either, i think its De Palma's most overrated movies and one of the most overrated horror movies. Blow Out however is amazing as are many of De Palma's other films (Dressed to Kill, Body Double, Sisters, The Untouchables, Scarface, Carlito's Way etc)

Not only will you need Universal to release Mallrats in the states, but also need to get Lionsgate to license both it and Dogma (since Sony has that one, which is OOP, last I heard) for one big box set, which was never even released in the DVD era, let alone now.

In short, if you're waiting for that to materialize before you upgrade to Blu, you'll probably be waiting a while.
But... Lionsgate worked with Universal before, (Inglorious Basterds in Tarantino XX), and Sony will licence films (you just cannot make any NEW features for them).

I didn't care too much for The Rock. The only Michael Bay movie that I've seen and liked was Pain & Gain, which is (so far) my favorite movie of the year.

I didn't say The Rock was a bad movie, not at all. It just wasn't as great as Face/Off, Con Air, Drive Angry, etc.
Also, I haven't finished Carrie (so I have no real say).

I like all of the movies you mentioned... it's just that THE ROCK and CARRIE are two of my all time favorites...

What?!

Haven't you seen Passion, Stoker, What Maise Knew, Maniac, or Kiss of the Damned?

Pain & Gain was terrible, not because of anything other than the fact that it kept reminding the viewer it was a "true story". We get it, it just makes you feel sadder and like a bad person laughing as three idiot juice-heads kill 2 innocent people who had families and friends that will never see them again.

If they had loosely based it on the Sun Gym Gang Murders, it would have been a better movie, but all that really happened, only it wasn't a comedy in real life.

But I digress. What Maise Knew is the best of 2013 so far, and Stoker was the best horror film of 2013, imo.

I have not seen any of those. Yeah, it's a true story, but it was a hysterical movie where it needed to be and really dark and terrifying where it needed to be. Go find Brad Jones's midnight screening of it. That describes my feelings completely.
I didn't say it was the best, either. I said that it was my favorite. My favorite horror film of the year was John Dies at the End.

And I respect your opinion. I love Jaws 3D, but I don't get mad when people bash it.

It was amazing. Its entirely told from the killer's perspective.

It won't give you a headache. Its well made, from Alexandre Aja.
And its not "shakey" like some people say. Its not found footage the camera's just positioned where the killer is. The only time you see him is at the end and if he looks in a mirror, a puddle, a shimmering window, etc.

And the gore is great too.

Meh. I might check it out. Probably not.
In other news, did anyone else see the final chapter of the Cornetto trilogy? Maybe after Ant-Man, Edgar Wright can finally get around to making Don't (preferably in a double feature with Werewolf Women of the SS).

Those all look interesting. I have only seen part of Maniac and Stoker. Stoker started off kind of slow and I started the movie already tired, and late. I will give it another chance though.

So... what do YOU (the metaphorical you) think that the third popular 80s title is?

So far, our guesses consist of:
-Chopping Mall (despite being denied)
-Fright Night Part 2
-Sleepaway Camp
