I'm not sure how they're comparable, honestly. I saw Ninja III courtesy of Scream Factory for the very first time this summer with my friends, and we all loved it. Yeah, it's cheesy, but it's a fun film. I guess to each their own?

Ok follow me here... I asked about possibly Poltergeist II and III on blu from Scream and another person stated CLIFF doesn't want P III in the Scream Factory Line.

my opinion was if CLIFF thinks that the current SCREAM line is so high class and he can't possibly want a film like Poltergeist III in it then how in hell did NINJA III get in. And Since NINJA III seems to be one of their worst selling titles and of the Poltergeist sequels could outsell Ninja III (even with that huge amazon price drop last Monday)

Does it make more sense now? I wasn't comparing the films themselves just from a selling standpoint and from their catalog lineup.

I understand what you're getting at, but what I'm saying is, I could see Ninja III being considered a fun movie, and it seems like Cliff tries to get movies he generally likes into the Scream Factory lineup, and avoids titles he dislikes. Psycho IV is a great example. Maybe Cliff just likes Ninja III and dislikes Poltergeist III?

Nothing wrong with him liking and not liking the films. I just could see them being good sellers from the Scream line. I will probably import Poltergeist III from UK this week and call it quits. If the transfer is decent. I'm not sure why I like the film I didn't care much for it when I was about 11 yrs old when the VHS came out. I was let down by the film... but over the years liked watching it around Halloween season. It has some great cast members and the movie made more sense to me as a kid then it does now! lol

He doesn't dislike Psycho 4. He just (1) can only get a certain number of films per deal, and (2) wants to see how 2&3 sell. We can expect Psycho 4 in the next Universal deal, based on how many people appear to be buying.

Count me in as someone who would like to see both Poltergeist II and III receive deluxe treatment. I don't hate the 3rd film and frankly can't see why anyone would - it's a fun flick. Warner has been on a licensing bandwagon lately - maybe they'll try to get the two films from MGM and release a trilogy box set. BTW, Crawlspace and Eve of Destruction are awful movies but Scream went after them anyway. I don't think it's a matter of films being "beneath them" since they have released many bad films. But even bad films have their fans so it works out.

It might be them having to take some lesser known movies to be able to secure rights to bigger movies later on? Or maybe a package deal? Just an idea.

Hopefully SF obtains the other 2 Ninja movies and releases a trilogy. I'd be all over that!!

Unfortunately, I think it's safe to say that Ninja III didn't do as well as Shout hoped, meaning we won't be seeing Enter or Revenge from them anytime soon...

Agreed, I wonder how much a loss they are taking when it went on sale for $8.99 at AMZ and BB.

Maybe, maybe not. I could still see it as a double feature with the second film, but yeah, I'd say it's not looking likely.

Can anyone here comment on the quality of screams bluray of "From Beyond" I read the review on this site and it seems from that review that its not demo worthy or anything but still up to par?

I hope you are wrong. I will not rest until I have Revenge of the Ninja, Pray for Death, American Ninja 1 & 2, and Avenging Force from Shout Factory. All 5 of those movies are superior to Ninja 3 which is why I found it odd that releasing some of the better Cannon ninja/martial arts films would depend on how well one of the weaker entries sold.

I personally thought it looked great, it was the first time I saw the film, so I had nothing to compare it to, but yeah it was definitely better than what I imagine the DVD looked.

Dark Side of the Moon was released in Germany on blu-ray to my surprise. The problem is it's one of three! movies on the same disc, it's 4:3 and only german soundtrack

In reference to the Cannon ninja/martial arts films, I still think it would have been best if Shout just released 2 trilogy boxsets. One set with a Michael Dudikoff theme and the other with a Sho Kosugi theme. If I had to choose between Pray for Death or Enter the Ninja for the Kosugi boxset, I would choose Pray for Death without hesitation. It's a better movie and probably Kosugi's 2nd best behind Revenge of the Ninja. None of those movies had anything to do with the other. They were sequels in name only.

Sho Kosugi
Revenge of the Ninja
Ninja III: The Domination
Pray for Death (Uncut)

Michael Dudikoff
American Ninja
Avenging Force
American Ninja 2

Cliff, if you are reading this, I will definitely double dip on Ninja 3 if something like this happens from Shout in the future.

That makes no sense. Why use the, arguably, the weakest of the "Ninja Trilogy" as a measuring stick for sales? That's like if Godfather 3 was the first offered on BD, and the studio waiting to see how sales on it went before releasing the much better first two films.
If SF were to release the first 2, I would definitely go back and buy the Ninja3, just to complete the trilogy. I know I can't be the only one.
Not sure what they hoped to expect with that strategy?

I like your analogy there. I just watched Revenge the other day and that movie rocked. My copy of Ninja III should be in my mailbox when I get home tonight so looking forward to that. I just watched Joshua Tree too and that movie was super badass too! Pleasantly surprised.

They released it because of the horror elements. The die hards bought it and then a few curious cats like me bought it and then sales fizzled
That's what happens when a movie gets released for the some (Ninja III) and not the many ( Psycho, Prince of Darkness )
I expect the same with Eve of Destruction, Cat People, Saturn III , Beast of Hollow Mountain - these will sell to the "some" - the groups that love these films and those curious to try them. I bet by this time next year they will be on sale like Ninja III ..just my own humble opinion
Now if they acquired Escape from NY or The Thing, I think we'd have pages of this
