Just got back from Wally World and they have their Halloween endcaps up. What do I find? Scream Factory dvds of The Fog, Halloween 2, Day of the Dead. Nice to see them getting some B&M exposure... but no blu-ray of course. In fact.. no Halloween blu-ray on display at all. Hmmmmm....

![]() They still haven't announced their 3rd *blockbuster* title. Pet peeve from Scream and Synapse - they hint and hint and say nothing lol I know there are reasons for that but still.. |

If Don May of Synape Films is to be believed Scream Factory has completed a deal for a desirable title. It's reasonable to assume Scream Factory has a marketing strategy of announcing titles as meets there benefit versus just immediately announcing all acquisitions.

Well even though it was quite a ways down on my list of Scream titles to buy, I picked up The Fog today at Best Buy. Seeing as it's the only Scream Factory title I've ever seen there (Besides Cockney's vs Zombies
![]() While there, I also noticed the Horror section seemed a tad bit fuller. I can say with some certainty that when the Horror sales finally start, -Interview with the vampire -Misery -I Spit on Your Grave (Original) Will likely be included in the sale. Neither of these titles were at my Best Buy a week ago, and now they suddenly had 3-4 copies. That's usually a pretty safe bet that they'll be going on sale soon around here. I went to a local store, Newbury Comics today... And, on display, I found Ninja 3, Day of the Dead, and The Fog on BD. On DVD, I found Deadly Blessing (no slip) and Halloween II (with slip). In the past, I have seen Terror Train, The Funhouse, TV/TVD, and They Live. I saw Halloween 3 there last week (must have sold, been there for a year).

I'm surely not the first person to post this here, but...
Scream Factory should pick up Tobe Hooper's 1979 televised miniseries adaptation of Stephen King's Salem's Lot. I have the DVD here at home, but I'm not satisfied. It's not a completely faithful adaptation by any stretch, since Hooper took a Nosferatu homage and ran with it, but it captures the spirit of the King novel quite well. David Soul makes a great Ben Mears, Bonnie Bedelia (Bruce Willis's wife in Die Hard) is perfect in the film, James Mason is wonderfully menacing, Fred Willard is a trip, and it's great to see Elisha Cook Jr. and Marie Windsor pair up again after their roles in Kubrick's The Killing. When the kid sits up in the coffin...oh, man. |

I've read a lot of this thread over the past couple months, but was wondering if someone could explain or clarify something. Regarding Scream's transfers - they are limited somewhat by the quality of the 'masters' they're supplied, is that right? So if they buy the distribution rights of a film from say Warner Brothers, Warner Brothers...what? Mails them a copy of the film? Releases it from their vault on 'loan'? Are we saying that if the film's owners don't take care of the original film properly, that could seriously hamper some of Scream's efforts? I know Scream isn't a huge company and doesn't have a lot of money, but could poor condition originals be responsible for some of the subpar transfers people have mentioned? How does this whole process work? |

Knee deep in "The Amityville Horror Trilogy" set, planning on doing an unboxing / review next week. The original film still just feels dated and mostly uninteresting, really looking forward to revisiting the sequel and checking out the 3D on part 3. Stay tuned!

I'd also love to see a blu-ray release of "It" while we're on this topic. |
