You obviously don't know much about the horror genre if you didn't know The Funhouse is a cult classic.

But I love and know the horror genre and I tend to like....
GOOD horror films

Funhouse is a classic of the slasher genre. I don't think anyone is claiming it should be in the AFI top 100 films of all time.

I remember searching Netflix and stumbled across The Funhouse. I watched it and I loved it.

I don't know if anyone has said this (probably). I think Scream should do The Stuff. Great 80's fun. I can imagine really cool artwork in the style of a 50s movie. That would be really cool.

C.h.u.d.
Evil Dead 2
Demon Knight
John Dies at the End
Rocky Horror
Get Slumber Party Massacre and Blacula
You should start it all of with an Upcoming Attractions Bumper

I don't think it would even be a top 100 horror film by any sort of general consensus. It's underappreciated, but it's also a film that may be a little overrated by some of it's more ardent supporters. I like the film an awful lot, but anyone going into it with the belief that it'll be the second coming of The Texas Chain-Saw Massacre or some sort of slasher masterpiece is ultimately going to be disappointed. It was among my favorite releases of the early Scream Factory lineup, but realistically it's midtier as a horror film and as a slasher. Visually, it's stunning, and I love the early 80's Carnival setting but it lacks the bodycount and gore that most slasher fans are probably looking for. The plot is very basic, by the numbers stuff too.

A Scream Factory release probably won't happen. The Stuff is with Image currently as part of their deal with Lakeshore Entertainment.

Funhouse is a Great Horror film from when Tobe Hooper was at the top of his game. For many people the carnival atmosphere is very scary. And Funhouse was loaded with atmosphere. Also the connection to Ohio (my home state) made it even more fun for me.

Funhouse was kind of dull. It used he setting well, though. Tobe Hooper's best stuff was in the Cannon years, if you ask me. Not counting Poltergeist and TCM 1.

What possible connection do those two have? If you'd have said Q, I would have understood.

The Funhouse is an ok movie. I wouldn't consider it a classic. However, the Scream release is great. They did a very good job.

Not sure what that has to do with my post, other than being about Tobe Hooper films.

But thanks for the input! jk.

But I agree, its no classic, definitely a CULT classic though. And I personally loved it.

I've seen this movie since it came out in the early 80's.... I've actually liked it better and better everytime I see it... love the atmosphere, the creepy setting, the musical score...

The craftsmanship behind it puts it ahead of many similar films from the time. Granted the amateurish quality helps give many a slasher from the 80's it's charm, but it's always nice to see one that had some cinematic skill behind it.
