Naw, I was referring to the aforementioned poor sales of Ninja III. (Which I think might look a bit better if compared to what I think the sales of "The Stuff" would be, lol.)

There are certainly worse films than 'The Stuff', and it is entertaining in it's own way...I'm just not sure I can see it 'paying for itself' in regards to Blu-ray production.

(By the way, if your username is at all related to the film of the same name... you are awesome! )

Don't understand why anyone likes The Funhouse. Just a bunch of kids dinging around at a carnival for most of the movie, nothing happens until after the 1-hour mark. And even then, things still go slow.

Atmosphere is ok, but does not make a good movie. No suspense or any tension whatsoever in this flick. No horror until like the last 20 minutes or so.

I don't know if anyone has said this (probably). I think Scream should do The Stuff. Great 80's fun. I can imagine really cool artwork in the style of a 50s movie. That would be really cool.
I email scream and arrow once a month asking them to release The Stuff. Enough is never enough

Eyes of Fire (1983) would be a great release... it's only been on VHS (but is on YouTube streaming for the curious).

Normally I don't ask how's this title or that title, usually I buy just about everything "Scream Factory" throws at us. But, when "Lifeforce" was released I didn't know the film, haven't seen it, still haven't seen it and after watching the trailer, it didn't look very exciting to me.

Well I almost blind-bought it last night, but didn't and thanks to a miracle, the "Scream Factory" Halloween sale has put it up for sale the very next day for $15.99 straight up, unlike Amazon's $22 and some change price.

Needless to say I got while the gettin' was good, but it was still a blind-buy. I like the whole 'vampires in space' idea, seems cool, but it doesn't really come off that way in the trailer if you ask me. And most of all I like Tobe Hooper.

But, honestly what are some of your takes on the flick for those of you who already own it? As far as space/futuristic flicks go, I enjoy "Alien", "Aliens", "Blade Runner", "Oblivion", "Moon", "Total Recall" and a few others, but 'space films' are generally not what I'm into, I'm no "Star Trek" or "Star Wars" fan. As far as vampire films go, I like "Near Dark", "John Carpenter's Vampires", "Interview with a Vampire", "Bram Stoker's Dracula", and I hate all things "Twilight."

So, essentially how does this film measure up? Will I enjoy it? How cool are the vampires? How are the space aspects? And where would you say it sits in the cannon of "Scream's" previous collector's edition titles, all of which I own and love, but this film.

I disliked it even more the 2nd time around. Just not a good film..but as with all movies, its all about taste.

Everybody has different tastes... so I never knock people's opinions... but just to point out a small logic flaw... You can boil down most horror flicks to "just a bunch of kids dinging around" can't you?

Friday the 13th? A bunch of kids dinging around a camp.
Halloween? A bunch of kids dinging around at Halloween.
Nightmare on Elm St? A bunch of kids dinging around in general.

Most of these films have a similar formula... I can certainly rank some above others for better execution, acting, scripts, etc.... but I can't ignore that they are all basically a bunch of kids dinging around as they get picked off one by one.

Watching The Funhouse is an uncomfortable and unsettling experience.

Something's off about the characters and their motivations, but its really just the tension and suspense radiating off the screen. The "digging around" is much more than that. Its foreshadowing. Everything has added meaning and multiple purposes. Its not what it seems. It's literally "a funhouse". Everything going on seems like nonsense and randomness, but its FAR from it.

The freakshow animals, the test tube baby, all of that is directly a representation of the kids and their parent, the kids including the monster and the parents including the carnival workers and the monster's father, the barker.

And then there's the disfunctional family that features seemingly absent parents, a misguided brother, uptight sister who isn't really bothered when her family parades in to see her breasts.

And there's so much more that almost unconciously sets in the more you watch it.
Initially it feels unreal, but the more you see it the more you get it.

I completely stand by my statement that its a cult classic, and I think quite a few others would agree.

I wish Scream would do The Stuff, that movie is tons of fun, but last I knew Image had the rights.

Why can't they release Slumber Party Massacre if Shout has already released it on dvd? I want it so bad.

Something to the effect of, the DVD's are really the best they could get them to look. And I have the DVDs, they're packed. Commentary on every film, 3-part documentary and other things. I'm really fine with just having the DVD, I probably wouldn't double dip for the blu-ray if ever released.

But really, I blind-bought "Lifeforce" as explained a couple posts back, good or bad? It was the only collector's edition from them I didn't have so I said fcuk it.

On KillerPOV, they said it was a big surprise hit. Apparently they thought it would be popular but its selling like hotcakes now.

For the record, I would 100% double dip on a slumber party massacre blu-ray set!!

Looking forward to receiving Terror Train & The Funhouse. I haven't seen these two in like 20 years. Told my wife we'll do an old school double feature.

Our best bet is Arrow - they licensed some of those Lakeshore titles. Apparently they only plan on releasing the worst of the catalog IMO (Hell Comes To Frogtown, Pin: A Plastic Nightmare, Hellgate).

It's really not like any of the films you mention above. The "space" aspect of the film is mostly limited to the first 1/4 or 1/3 of the film. After that, the film takes place in the UK. If I had to liken it to any one film in particular, I'd say it's most like Independence Day but without all the marital issues and complications and with a heaping spoonful of Mathilda May's naked body.

Very interesting. My instincts told me I wouldn't like it most likely, but I gotta challenge myself sometimes you know, how else ya gonna discover some of these diamonds in the rough. And I've liked 85% of what "Scream" has put out, maybe more, so odds are in favor of me liking it I guess.

Grindhouse still has the rights to Cannibal Holocaust right? Because I would love to see that get a blu ray release along with the Slumber Party massacres, and the Sleepaway Camps.
