Agreed, I would love to get some of those Sept. blus. I need to rob a small bank first. I hope they listen and go ahead with your suggestion.

Yes, I just noticed the following:

The Burning $15.49
Prison $14.49
From Beyond $14.49
Terror Train $14.49

In each case, those are new lowest pries for those items on Amazon.

Yeah My Price Tracker has been going off like crazy this month... most I've had to ignore since I've already spent so much, but these scream prices were too good to pass up. I already purchased the Burning recently, and From Beyond Last year, but today I Jumped on Prison and Terror Train.

I placed a big order last week and got my shipping email for half of it the other day. Should be here tomorrow.

Picked up all the titles I was missing so far:

Dark Angel
Day of the Dead
Prince of Darkness
Scanners II/III
X-Ray/Schizoid
Psycho II
Psycho III
The Amityville Collection

I'm pissed at myself for waiting so long and missing out on the posters for the Collector's Editions. Definitely not missing out on Body Bags.

There needs to be new releases of Howling 3,5,&6. Shout's parent company owns them, so it is possible. A single of 3 & a double of 5&6. Also, despite hatred from Cliff, they should try to get the second film in a future MGM deal.

I only ask for 3,5,&6 so I don't have to explain why the 1,2, and the trilogy come before 4 and 7 on my shelf. I hate when non-cronological films in a franchise.are paired together.

If they ever get Howling II: Your Sisters a Werewolf, pair it with Howling 3. Then do 5//6 a double.

I just want them all complete, and in order on my shelf.

FWIW, these are Amazon's "Deal of the Week" lasting until the 19th.

I Decided to Watch Audition tonight as Part of my 31 Films in October Marathon. This was released by Shout Factory, prior to the Scream Factory line creation, but I really wish Scream Factory would have taken one thing from this release. Included with the Film (and Bonus Disk) was a printed Essay, similar to what accompanies many of Criterion's films. I really, really like these little additions and I wish that Scream would have done the same for all of their releases. I can understand why they don't/didn't, but it would have been great if they'd gone that route with the films instead of the poster promotions. They just make the releases feel all that more comprehensive and provide interesting in site into the films in a way other then another commentary track or 5 minute special feature.

I agree, an insert booklet or pamphlet however brief would trump a slipcover to me any day. It's helpful to have some analysis of the film or trivia to browse and including brief information about features is handy too.

Well, take The Town That Dreaded Sundown, it had an essay but it was on-disc.

I'm not sure what the slipcovers or posters have to do with them doing booklets??

And I'm also not sure what, if any, new info could be provided in booklets that aren't on the special features of the disc, even if its one of their lighter releases.

The Slipcover/Posters I imagine would cost similar to what it would cost to produce the pamphlet. So my idea was rather then printing up posters for such a small amount of fans, include the pamphlets so everyone could enjoy them.

As for reasons why to do them? Because their are some things that are just better conveyed through print than through a 2-5 minute long "Special feature" that just has the camera pointed at someone talking. I'm not asking for a Book or anything of that sort, but something small and simple with a few photos from the set, some history, trivia, or cultural impact info. Criterion does this very well in addition to their special features, and Shout has done this with many other releases. The Slumber Party Massacre Trilogy included a nice booklet, as did Audition as I mentioned already. They are by no means important in the grand scheme of things, and in most cases I would take the Slip Cover and a special feature over them, however they really add to a release and make it feel even more special (to me at least).

Plus I just like reading the things when I'm sitting on the toilet.

What did you think of the quality? Is the BD really as bad as the review here makes it out?

I have been wanting to upgrade my old DVD, but I am not sure whether it actually would make any sense.

Well, quite frankly I don't think it would be an either/r situation. And the posters are what they use to entice customers to buy direct from them, thus giving them all of the profit.

These are perfectly fine the way they are. These aren't Citizen Cane, they are probably the definitive editions of each film respectively, but a couple pieces of stapled paper isn't going to make them any more special, realistically.

4 is a negative. If anyone will release it, it's Echo Bridge.

That's a gutsy proposition, don't let the slipcover hounds hear you say this or they will eat you alive. If you find these films to be of questionable merit and therefore not worth effort on added content that may be but I sure do appreciate the attention to quality some companies lavish on horror/cult films and I wouldn't discourage their attention to these.

Obviouisly, you read my post wrong. You completely missed the point.

I'm saying we don't need booklets or inserts, not slipcovers. I'm a slipcover hound, as you called it.

And these films aren't grabd masterpieces of cinema, they're at best cult classic genre films. And I'm okay with that. I own every one of them, and I love the treatment, but a stapled sheet of folded paper, an BOOKLET, isn't going to make their treatment any more special. They are likely definitive.

I'm pretty sure if I didn't think they were worth it, I wouldn't update the o.p. every time there's an announcement. And I certainly wouldn't have bought them all.
