Haven't checked in for a while, though, so I'd be happy to be proven otherwise.

Continuing the rare-cult thread, how about Embryo (1976), with Rock Hudson, and, more to the point, Barbara Carrera ?
Not so much a "horror" as mid-70's sci-fi--But reason for asking was that I found it the other night while wandering through Amazon Prime's VHS-backroom of cheap weaselly public-domain streams (while looking for "Damnation Alley", which I also found in cheap-weaselly-PD form), and wondered why this movie seems to have completely dropped off of studio radar (rights problems?)
Every time I try looking for a rental, all I find are cheap, dingy square PD-VHS updumps from fly-by-night PD-parasite labels....Is it that hard to salvage?
I never could understand the complaining. What's the point of *****ing about the cover? Considering you can change it to the original poster....It's not like they're forcing you to stick to the new cover.
I'm all for out there and barely known titles but that movie is awful. Everything about it is bad: the acting, the special effects and the fact that it's so slow. Besides, even Hudson looks miserable and doesn't try to hide his disinterest.

Yep the endless whiners aka bad apples spoiled it for the whole bunch of us. Whining about slip covers, cover art, dvd or blu only, versions with boobies, 'what, no psycho 4 ?'
Nevermind that they just released a great assortment of titles that none of the other studios would have done...

Although Darkman and the Shadow are exceptions to that..and the first Amityville..

It's really not important that people agree on favoritism for a movie, but that they can discuss the technical and artistic merits (such as they are).I agree, Scream Factory has been ridiculously quite. If we were playing cards, it's be really easy to call their "so many titles coming in 2014" bluff. The sales are great though.
I was not even being remotely serious...

Over on HTF, we already have a known reputation about why Twilight Time doesn't want to send us review screeners anymore...
The autocratic free-agent indie-cult labels do tend pull the Diva act too often. (Especially with Mr. "I'll never release Howling II, so there, nyah! ")

I'm going out on a limb here and predicting (as far as non-horror stuff goes) in 2014, we'll see...

- Big Trouble in Little China
- The Delta Force
- Escape From New York

Yep, I forgot those !
I noticed this website didn't post new on TT's Jan/Feb titles...I cant imagine why...
The HTF forums aren't as active as this forum...and HTF there are lots of insiders, and there have their share of whiners as well...especially at Misterlime in the Olive Films section...
Amazing how much bickering there is over movie titles...

I'll say no to Delta Force. Big Trouble is a possibility, if another Fox deal is worked out. EFNY is a probable no, if there is another MGM deal.

I don't see SF releasing any of those. The previous releases are fine.

Arrow will be releasing Big Trouble in Little China next month (not sure about new transfer, but will include new extras) and Delta Force next year.

I'd love to see all the extras SF pours into the existing barebones EFNY BD.

Agreed.

It's not worth wasting resources on re-releasing someone else's discs.

Extras are a non-issue. There's a half dozen people who think extras are a big deal but they don't represent the vast majority of BD buyers. There was a thread here a few months ago asking if extras were an important factor in BD purchases. Not surprisingly, most people didn't give a rat's behind about extras.

We need more stuff not previously on BD. Don't waste our time on retreads.

Unless the film looks bad, like Carrie, don't think it absolutely needs to be re-released. In the case of that film its also bare bones. Scream tried to get it but, unfortunately, didn't succeed due to a few reasons. Maybe one day they'll get it, if MGM would actually allow them to handle the film to rescan.

---->
And, what are the odds they get more Corman films? Not as part of the Corman line, but a few of the horror titles they missed.

Like how they included The Nest, maybe they could snatch up Brain Dead with Bill Pullman. I'd love to see that one on blu-ray.

Ohhhh, I keep forgetting about Brain Dead.

Yep, I'd LOVE to see that released. Haven't seen it in 20 years.

It's my favorite movie of all time, and the packaging is quite nice, with the comic included. Same "packaging" logic applies to: Black Hawk Down Deluxe, Troy CE and Kingdom of Heaven CE dvds.
Those will never be retired from my dvd collection.

Same here, some of the DVD's I own I will keep because blu doesn't always port over everything.
