I have both releases of the Madman DVD, the Code Red DVD and the UK Anchor Bay DVD. While the extras were good in the code red DVD the transfer was terrible compared against the Anchor Bay DVD. All of the filters were gone and there was even flickering between some scenes where it should be which wasn't present on the Anchor Bay DVD.

I saw a revival screening of Madman in Boston a few years back and while it's silly to pretend that I recall all of the details of the 35 MM projection, I do remember more of a blue filter than what was in the Code Red DVD.

What theater was this? I have to find out where this is. By the way, the Brattle in Cambridge is showing Halloween 3 tonight at 10:00. I live near Boston too.

It was Coolidge Corner. In their small, upstairs theater. It was great because there was only like six people in there so it was almost a private screening.

It's one of their better blu-ray announcements for some time, for me, but I am dubious about the sequels. I genuinely hope it isn't a case that they could have had 2 and 3, but they chose not to, as with Psycho IV. Hopefully there's a double pack around the corner they don't want to give away yet, or it's just a case they don't have HD transfers available yet.

The sequels to me aren't as good but they are still fun...I may just retire the Anchor Bay box set !

I think there are different rightsholders for the original film and the sequels.

The sequels are held by a different company. This was not the case.
