Cherry Falls (2000)

Normally I wouldn't suggest Scream go after a title from 2000, but Cherry Falls has been neglected since its release 13 years ago. It was intended to get a theatrical release in Fall 2000, but got dumped on the USA Network and was severely butchered. I don't know if any of the cut footage (supposedly NC-17 worthy) still exists, but Scream could only do good for this title. The one and only DVD release it got (in 2001) is long out of print and was piss-poor to begin with. It was a double feature DVD paired with Terror Tract. I guess USA had no faith in Cherry Falls selling on its own individual release. It also contained no extras. Sadly, Brittany Murphy (RIP) is no longer around.
I'd get Cherry Falls in an instant. It played in cinemas over here and i went to see it. I was seeing a girl from work at the time and she looked like Brittany Murphy in that film too so it always takes me back to a time.

+1 on Cherry Falls big time. This is too funny though, I asked Scream Factory on Facebook about Cherry Falls a couple weeks ago. They didn't respond, just 'liked' the post, so maybe it's on their radar since, I believe, Universal owns the USA Library. I didn't think anyone else remembered how butchered this movie was. I remember renting it when it came out. It wasn't the greatest, but you could definitely see the potential in it. Would love to see it fully uncut.

I'd love Cherry Falls. It got really cut up, I believe due to Columbine.
Teens getting killed was a touchy subject at that time.

That's when the late 90s Scream-era slashers, morphed into the early 2000's, becoming more focused on "young adults" rather than teens. Like Scream 3, Blair Witch 2, etc.

But anyway, I think it'd certainly benefit from a nice blu-ray release.

Definitely +1 on Cherry Falls, this movie needs to be on an uncut blu-ray.

Yeah, pretty sure this one received the lion's share of the Columbine grief at the time. If memory serves, Valentine was also cut up due to Columbine, but that was studio mandated not MPAA (original cut secured a R).

I wouldn't mind grabbing a copy of Valentine on Blu-Ray either. I haven't seen it in over a decade. I think it's a Warner Brothers title though, which would mean no chance of a Scream Factory release or an unrated cut.

Oh yeah! I love Valentine! Creepy killer, lots of suspense, and an excellent cast. I still have the DVD, but would *love* a Blu-ray release. Unless the rights have changed, it belongs to WB though...

I'm glad so many others want to see Cherry Falls released as much as me. If it ever happens I hope they use the UK DVD art.

First I've ever heard of it, but I love Biehn, Murphy, and Mohr, so I'll. be sure to look for it.

As long as USA Films is involved, I'd love it if Shout could get their hands on The Man Who Wasn't There, possibly the most underrated Coen Brothers flick.

No worries dude and yes that's where I conducted my interview with Cliff. Things are in the works to hopefully bring more comprehensive interviews with other labels in the future. I'll certainly keep you guys posted

An uncut CHERRY FALLS would be awesome. Not a perfect movie (the killer's reveal is so laughable), but it's a really solid and clever modern slasher.

"Cherry Falls" would be great if they do another TV movie double feature release, if they can find another TV movie that is somewhat in the same vein or made around the same time. I know, I know, it was released theatrically in some parts and wasn't suppose to be a TV movie at all and truly isn't, but I really only know the film to be that movie that USA re-ran the shit out of for a number of years back then. When it came out I was not aware of it's release troubles I simply thought it was a pretty decent DTV movie. But, a release in any form is welcomed obviously.

Now regarding yesterday's big announcements, does anyone else feel a little bit bad for "Shout!/Scream Factory" and Cliff? Synapse and Don blew horror fans everywhere out of the water with the "Suspiria" announcement and some of us know that, this was Cliff's "holy grail" or "dream" title to work on and release under their banner, as he has mention this a couple times before. Now, I'm sure Cliff is a good sport and is just happy we are possibly getting the definitive release of "Suspiria." But, I do feel a little bit bad that they didn't get to do it and I also kinda feel bad because, let's face it the news of "Suspiria", I feel like definitely overshadowed the news of "Sleepaway Camp" in my opinion.

Regardless, it was an awesome day for fans of both films alike and I can't wait to have them in my hands.

I'm expecting it. Somebody has to pay those high licensing and restoration costs. The edition size might be higher than 3,000 though.

I hope they don't do some Twilight Time bullshit like that. They know how many people are champing at the bit for a proper release of this film. It would be an incredible disservice to them to limit themselves to 3,000 copies on this title. I hate the steelbook artwork for "Demons" to by the way, I hope they just stick to either the woman in blood artwork or the blue screaming face cover.

Completely agree. I don't mind the price but just don't do the stupid limited thing. As for the artwork I hope they go with classic one of the ballerina with blood. The blue screaming face just looks goofy…

I'd like a nice Slipcover to Synapse's Suspiria. They don't do that often but I think a lenticular one with the theatrical poster's ballerina going from clean to bloody as you turn it would be phenomenal.
And then just the regular bloody ballerina poster on the actual cover.

This Art:
[Show spoiler]

I hope it isn't too limited, and please no more bad artwork/steelbooks, unless you also offer amaray versions.

But I'm still SUPER excited for Sleepaway Camp and I really hope they can get the SC Sequels too.

No, I don't feel bad for Scream at all because, in the grand scheme of the Blu-ray market, SLEEPAWAY CAMP might be the more profitable title.

Suspiria may well be a favorite of horror aficianados and those who maintain some contact with the foreign horror genre (and I am one of those people). But SLEEPAWAY CAMP is 80's slasher gold. For small labels, 80's slasher flicks are among the safest home video bets. If I'm worried about the bottom line, I'm gonna' sleep better knowing my company is releasing SLEEPAWAY CAMP.

Personally, I will obviously buy SUSPIRIA provided that I'm given a reasonable chance to do so. I have no interest in another Synapse limited edition debacle. I'm not paying for the honor of a crappy steelbook. Put this is in a plain plastic case, sell it on amazon and my pre-order is guaranteed. I'm interested in movies...not cheap paper slipcovers or goofy steel bling.
