Like X-Ray and Phantasm II. And they've done new ones of pre-existing HD tranfers, like The Fog.

But in all seriousness, they don't always deliver the best P/Q and A/Q possible, like with the upcoming Night of the Comet. It looks great, but it could be better. Its not bad by any means, but not perfect.

I find most of their releases look better than any DVD, and satisfy me most of the time. But they could look better, whereas Synapse blows me away almost every time.

All of that being said. Scream is definitely one of the best companies in the biz right now.
I thought Universal provided the master for Phantasm?
As far as Scream goes, they're definitely in the top five. One of the few companies that actually cares about the films they put out. At the same time though, theres still a few companies that do best them. All I'm saying from that post above is that they are still behind a couple other companies and certainly not the best in the biz.
Just one of the best

Phantasm II was color corrected with Don Coscarelli but the digital master was provided by Universal.

What was reported earlier in this thread was "Looks like they said on Facebook they are not getting 2 and 3." As to why that is, who knows?

Maybe it's like Psycho IV: The Beginning and they indeed do, have no interest in Sleepaway 2 and 3? Whatever the reason, it's disappointing as hell for me.

Seems logical as the Sleepaway Camp fans have, for the most part, always been torn between the original and the sequels. There is a large group of Sleepaway fans that love the 1983 original and hate parts 2 and 3. There is another large group of Sleepaway fans that don't like the original and love parts 2 and 3. There seems to be a much smaller group that loves all three.

By the way, I am aware of Return to Sleepaway Camp, but I think almost everyone hated that one....except for Robert Hiltzik. And part 4: The Survivor was never finished so...

Would be great, but we only have an agreement for Part 1. Thanks.
I don't think this is a case of no interest, but a case of the rightsholder to the first film being different than the rightsholder(s) for the second and third films.

Agreed I'd take Night Of The Demons over Suspiria anyday.

My personal favorite, I've seen like 20 times and know nearly every word of, is Sleepaway Camp III: Teenage Wasteland. Its perfectly cheesy in every way, just like II.

I agree, that quote doesn't read as Scream having no interest. It reads more like we don't have rights at this time but if we did, we would possibly take a boxset into consideration. Hopefully Scream will try to acquire the rights in the future for a Sleepaway Camp 2 & 3 double feature or maybe pair them up with Cheerleader Camp for a trilogy if Code Red doesn't already have the rights.

Oh, and count me in as someone who would take Night of the Demons over Suspiria. Night of the Demons is in my top 10 favorite horror movies of the 80's and has so much replay value. I never got the hype with Suspiria but once again, different strokes for different folks. I'm sure it was a great horror movie for its day. At the tender age of 32 I can't really say, but I didn't think it had aged very well upon viewing it a few years ago. What I can say is that I pretty much guarantee everyone on this forum that Night of the Demons and Sleepaway Camp sell more copies for Scream Factory than Suspiria does for Synapse.

I love both "NOTD" and "Suspiria", for different reasons they are both 10/10 classics for me. No need to pit labels and titles against each other, these are halcyon days for us horror fans. Rejoice.

Uh, Suspiria is way bigger (by any measure) than Night of the Demons or Sleepaway Camp.

Why are people putting words in their mouths about Psycho 4? They said that getting it would depend on the sales of 2/3. I never recalled them saying that they didn't like it, just that they would not go for it just yet.

I assume that Sleepaway Camp will be the same way, along with the different rights holders to deal with.

I believe that the real title is: Sleepaway Camp III: Baba O'Riley.

That joke was from The Cinema Snob.

True, Scream "as a whole" did not say that, but Cliff mentioned his distaste for it.

He also doesn't like Deadly Blessing. Your point is invalid.

Most of that seems to be coming from their facebook, people were saying that they didn't like Psycho IV so that was why they were not releasing it. Then I contacted them and they said there are no plans for it in the near future, so I guess it's just the internet.

After that quote a few lines down they replied again to requests about getting part 2 and 3 and they replied "We will not. It is done.". That could either be taken as there just won't a box set but they could release 2 and 3 seperately later on, or that there are no plans to get 2 and 3. I woul assume if they could have gotten 2 and 3 they would have so they could release a box set, no? Either way dissapoonting that they aren't releasing a trilogy to match Anchor Bays excellent release. So annoying having so many incomplete series on Blu-ray. They are doing the same thing with Slumber Party Massacre.

As for Night of the Demons and Sleepaway Camp being bigger or even in the same league as Suspiria, that's just laughable. That's fine if you enjoy them more but I guarantee you to the rest of the world they are not. There's a reason Don had to turn down Sleepaway Camp as well as a few others to get Suspiria, it's a huge title worldwide, beyond cult films like the two mentioned above. If you go by the what some use as a popularity scale, how many ratings the film has on IMDB, Suspiria has more ratings then almost all of Screams 2014 announcements combined, yes it is that big!

But others are right, they are both great labels, no point arguing about it I was just throwing out my opinions as the comparison came up. I will admit I have many more Scream (I own almost every Scream / Shout Blu-ray up until Sept. where I fell a little behind) titles then Synapse. I just am not as impressed with Screams 2014 announcements as I am Synapse. And no, I never said Scream was terrible, Internet people love to exaggerate haha.
