Now the question is which company picked up Phantasm, Chopping Mall, or Society!?

Yes BATTLEFIELD EARTH is that big!

I'm not sure concepts of "big" or "in the same league" translate well into the BD marketplace.

Another useless frivolous argument over what company is better ? Why dont you private message or just call each other up, talk about it and let it out of your system ??
Does it really matter as long as you are satisfied with both ?
Don May and Jeff are friends...and Cliff as well although there is some competition with them but at the end of the day they want to give the fans the titles that they have clamored for...

Could be Scream or Synapse IMO

I assume that Sleepaway Camp will be the same way, along with the different rights holders to deal with.
This really sucks:

Sorry to disappoint you, but I didn't acquire it nor do I ever plan to. There are much better films to go after.
I would have bought Psycho IV, Bates Motel, Poltergeist 3, and every other film they nixed because they personally didn't like it, in a heartbeat. I thought the customers opinion went into consideration too?

Rant:
And I'd jump on all those listed above WAY before some of there more recent announcements, like Eve of Destruction. Not that I don't appreciate them all seeing the light of day on blu-ray.
But, while I LOVE Scream Factory, they aren't being very friendly to the completists.

I sincerely hope this isn't why they didn't release Sleepaway Camp 2/3, because you'd think they'd be remotely easy to aquire. The rightsholder is known to have licensed them out before. Twice.

I think Synapse, because Don's fb cover photo was Chopping Mall at one point.
Does that mean he got it? No. Was he toying with the fans? Probably.

Personal feelings did come into after all then? It didn't really matter if Psycho II and III sold well all along then, we wouldn't have gotten Psycho IV which really annoys me.

In all fairness, that comment was made before the comment that if Psycho 2/3 sold well they would consider it. Granted, both were made by two different people.

Well then there is still some hope, I got an answer from their Facebook page a few days ago saying they were not releasing it in the near future.

I think their profits are more important than just releasing something for "completitsts"

Glad I am not a completist or I would be poor. Profit is everything, I would like to think Psycho IV would sell well if released.

With all due respect, the only way I would agree with that is if Synapse does with Suspiria what they did with the Demons films: selling it exclusively through their website at a premium price (and that's not even taking into account the limited nature of the two Demons films). Otherwise, I could see Suspiria outselling both NOTD and SAC (nothing against those titles, I plan on grabbing them once they're available, too).

Does anyone have any kind of Idea when we might see the pre orders go up on Amazon for Night of the Demons and Witchboard?

Um... You don't think Psycho Iv would sell? I beg to differ.

It would sell well, I believe, and had they released it when the other two came out, it would have sold twice as many.

I believe that "Psycho IV" would have sold decently had they timed it with the other sequels but that being said, I think it probably would have sold the least out of the three. Just my opinion. Sure, I would have loved to own it on Blu-ray but I'm more than happy with the output Scream has been delivering, as well as what the future holds, so it's not the biggest deal to me

I imagine they'll probably go up within two weeks, not positive but it seems likely since Shout's entire January slate has been up for pre-order on Amazon for sometime already.

I believe it would sell in 2014 too, if timed right.
Not as well as it would've had it been released with 2/3.

But Bates Motel is a hit show, Psycho interest is at its peak, coming up on it's 55th anniversary in 2015. I think it would do well enough to justify a release.

But, yeah. I'm not "angy" about it, its just a little irritating. But I'm stoked for what lies ahead.

Suspiria has a large cult-like horror fan base. There is no doubt about that. All one would have to do is read this or any other horror centric forum to see the praise it gets. However, I don't see Suspiria appealing to many outside of its already built in fan base. It's not a movie that is going to convert non-believers into believers if you know what I mean. I'm not arguing which movies are better although I personally enjoyed Night of the Demons and Sleepaway Camp more. I am arguing that Night of the Demons and Sleepaway Camp will appeal to a larger general horror audience outside of the hardcore horror community.

Yes BATTLEFIELD EARTH is that big!

I'm not sure concepts of "big" or "in the same league" translate well into the BD marketplace.
The IMDB votes comparison doesn't work well when comparing popularity on pre-internet and post-internet films or films that were released more than 15 - 20 years apart in general. Vote totals on more recent films will almost always skew higher than their older counterparts becuase the demographics for people watching more recent films more closely match the demographics of the voters on IMDB. Shaun of the Dead, Zombieland and 28 Days Later have enough votes to rank 3rd, 6th and 7th overall, respectively, amongst all horror films. The Exorcist ranks 8th. John Carpenter's Halloween ranks 38th. The top 50 is dominated by post-1990 films with only 8 of the 50 films having been released prior to 1990.

That's not even accounting for the fact that over 40,000 of those voters for Battlefield Earth ranged from strongly disliking it to absolutely hating it. Over 50% of the voters gave it a 1.
