Not as well as it would've had it been released with 2/3.

But Bates Motel is a hit show, Psycho interest is at its peak, coming up on it's 55th anniversary in 2015. I think it would do well enough to justify a release.

But, yeah. I'm not "angy" about it, its just a little irritating. But I'm stoked for what lies ahead.
Trust me, I hear ya. It certainly would have been nice from a completist point of view to own it but there will be plenty of quality releases next year to wash away the sting of not seeing it released

You go on Synapses Facebook page they are promoting soft core porn. Again, Im not trying to bash Synapse but your are forcing me to point out how ridiculous your statement is.
I'm just going off the quality of their releases and the effort and love they put into them.
Yes they had fewer releases and Street Trash was delayed for a couple of weeks (as were Demons 1 and 2) but it was for great reasons. Again, not trying to bash Scream in any way as I've said I think they put out a lot of really good quality releases, but with Synapse I never have to wait for reviews to go up to consider pre ordering any of their titles and their transfers are usually better. Street Trash was one of the best blus I picked up this year.

Anyways, dsman sorry for carrying this on.

Otherwise, I could see Suspiria outselling both NOTD and SAC (nothing against those titles, I plan on grabbing them once they're available, too).
This is right.

Only there's really no possible way SC or NOTD outsells SUSPIRIA.

Argento's film is a watershed classic that has appeal outside of horror circles. You cannot say the same for the other films.

But who cares? Scream Factory is a great company and has been doing great work and including lots of fun extras. Does everything really have to deterioirate into some kind of simple minded "my team's better" mindset?

Where in my statement have I said Psycho IV would not sell ??? I said they are into making a profit as opposed to helping completists meaning we wont get every single sequel to every movie. I was not referring to Psycho IV .. but there probably are some sequels out there that probably would not do well enough to warrant a blu ray release...this could be Howling sequels, Amityville 4,5, etc..If Cliff feels a title will not sell he wont pursue it, much to the chagrin of the completists. He'd rather spend money on getting Sleepaway Camp, Night of the Demons , Nightbreed, etc to make a good profit. Those should sell really well

No need to *beg* to differ. You can just differ

At least we'll eventually get complete Night of the Demons/Witchboard collections, as Olive will eventually put out the third film to each.

I do think, eventually, Scream will get Sleepaway Camp 2&3 and/or Psycho 4. Just let the sales speak...

I mean, Sleepaway Camp was just announced a few days ago and people are already complaining about not getting the whole franchise. Give it time, people.

You're right, they probably will but it would have been nice to have them all together in a nice looking box set like what Anchor Bay has released and for a little bit of a discount. Then again it maybe like Scanners, Phantasm, Jaws 2, ect. Yes, I know these are different companies we are waiting on but point is it would have been nice to have them all together like the DVD set instead of waiting months or years later hoping the first movie sold wel enough.

Like with the Dr. Phibes sequel, hopefully we will get it in a second volume set but it will be atleast abother year at the earliest, same with the Slumber Party sequels. If they can release them together in a box set it would be much better, especially because some people will now wait until they are all released to replace their DVD set which may hurt sales and in turn assure we never get the sequels. A bit of a catch 22 there. Sleepaway Camp is a big enough franchise that I doubt they need to see sales for the first to decide whether or not the sequels are worth it.

I also agree but you know how people are, soon as one title that has a few sequels , the rule must be to ask what about parts 3,4,5 as opposed to thank you !
I predict we will get Psycho 4, Sleepaway Camp 2 & 3 but also not right away.
Ha !! At least if Fright Night II gets released they cant ask about part III since there isnt one
But they will ask, can you get the first one

I'm not saying anything about the quality of the films, either. But while I wouldn't consider Suspiria mainstream by any means, I would say that both SC and NOTD would be considered more "cult" titles than Suspiria. Just based on my experience working in a video store for the past decade, I've seen more people ask about Suspiria (and other Argento titles, for that matter) than those two. As I said, unless Synapse limits their distribution to their own web site and charges a premium, I could see Suspiria doing better in sales.

However, it's all a moot point; the important thing is that all three titles will be available on Blu-Ray (in the US) soon.

I'm more concerned about the quality of the releases over the quantity. While Synapse may not have a large release slate each year, you can be assured that the releases they do put out will be top-notch. As much as I love Scream/Shout Factory, they've put out releases on more than one occasion that haven't approached that level of quality, or are at least heavily questioned. Go ahead and read the threads for the Bruce Lee box set, They Live, Prince of Darkness or Phantasm II for proof.

I thought They Live and Phantasm II both looked really good.

Both transfers had some controversy behind them. They Live had DNR and edge enhancement, and Phantasm II was an older HD master which didn't reveal a large amount of detail over the DVD, resulting in a number of people claiming it was an upconvert. I don't blame Shout for those, since they were working from masters that Universal gave them, and these issues were inherent in said masters (not to mention the releases, while flawed, were still pretty good; I own both releases and I enjoy them quite a bit). I wasn't trying to bash those releases at all, I was just trying to illustrate the differences between the two companies...

I guess it's a little easier for synapse to worry so much about quality charging 50 bucks a movie and putting out 2 a year. I'll stick with scream putting out 30 to 40 cult classics a YEAR and charging a affordable price. Besides the fact there releases look great when your going in to enjoy a movie instead of trying to find flaws in anything.

Most Synapse titles are available at an affordable price from regular retailers, as well. DEMONS and DEMONS 2 are an exception, not the rule.

Those are the only 2 up till suspiria that they have released that I had any interest in owning so that was more a statement based from my point of view not general.

If anyone's interested, I ordered a copy of The Burning from GoHastings, just got it, and it came with a slip.

I was just at my local Hastings and passed up a copy of The Burning with slip, lol. I've never seen it, and I'm not sure it's quite up my alley.

Besides, by some freak accident, they had 4 copies of Assault of Precinct 13 (with slips) on the shelf. You can be sure I grabbed one of those! Why they had them out already, I don't know. No Body Bags, though. That was the next thing I immediately began scouting for.

Score!
