I really hope to see an official release one day. The acting in the "talking heads" segments is mostly rather bad, but the clips from the "murder tapes" more than makes up for it. At times it get really creepy. It definitely got under my skin. Especially the story about the [Show spoiler] .

Studios will basically do whatever makes them money, though the slasher boom clearly also showed there was a limit. What made people take notice of the slasher boom was first and foremost the massive negative backlash from various parts, like Siskel and Ebert, Mary Whitehouse in the UK etc. This eventually made all the major studios so embarrassed about slashers that they began to distance themselves from them, even though they still did make a killing at the box office on them. That's why very few slashers were actually produced by the major studios. Most were negative pick-ups from independent producers. The slasher boom made it much easier for independent producers to sell their product and get it screened in the big theater chains whereas before they often had to rely on independent cinemas and drive-ins. But really this was just the continuation of a process that already began in the small in the late 1960s with independent hits like EASY RIDER. Last edited by Mr. Thomsen; 11-07-2013 at 01:02 PM. |

It's really the very core of the genre film - to go wherever the money is, and to imitate any idea that appeals to the audience. As soon as the studios noticed how much money there were to made on a very little investment with HALLOWEEN, everyone wanted a slice of the cake. But that was nothing new. You see the same reasoning behind the horror movies put out by other studios after Universal's initial success in the beginning of the 1930s.

That is definitely in it but I don't remember any animals being harmed.

Honestly, I can't tolerate a movie where an animal dies even if it's pure fiction. I still have nightmares about the Olive release of 1900.
I'm scared to buy A BOY AND HIS DOG because I'm worried about the dog! I'm not kidding. If somebody wants to tell me (using spoiler tags) if the dog survives, I'd appreciate it ![]() |

What do you think of the dog scene in "The Fly 2"? always a sad one for me that.

Check out the reviews from Good Bad Flicks and Obscurus Lupa. They mock it endlessly, but the two people love the film.
