They are. But Magnet is still kicking their ass in the current title market.

Not IMO. Of those titles you listed I only care for 2 of them, 1 so-so. The rest are garbage.

I have liked at least 3. The rest, other than Rubber, I have yet to see. Which ones have you seen?

I've seen all of them, obviously. How else could I weigh in on them.

Having grown up in the 80's, there's no doubt I prefer the title choices Scream goes after.

I do too. But, I mean, if they could get a couple of JDATE/TADVE calibar, as well as the Chiller releases... I'd say that their modern horror releases would be good enough.

Also, I mean which ones did you enjoy?

VHS(just saw the sequel and really liked it), and Tucker & Dale vs. Evil....but this is a Scream thread and I'd rather talk about their releases.

Well, there is nothing to mention at the moment. And the comment began as a comparison, so it was connected... Tangentially.

By the way, I adored John Dies at the End and Hobo With a Shotgun.

Magnet/Magnolia isn't exactly running unopposed in the current title market. You've got big independents like Lionsgate and The Weinstein Company and then you've got the likes of Anchor Bay/Starz, Dark Sky Films/MPI and XLRator amongst others.

Say what you will about the films thus far, but Scream Factory's deal with Chiller/NBCUniversal probably has them more or less covered in the current title market. They also acquired Dead Shadows for US distribution.

Personally, I don't want to see another Anchor Bay situation where the company opts to more or less dump back catalog acquisitions in favor of producing and acquiring current films. See also: Lionsgate, Dark Sky Films.

I see your point. I don't want that either, but I would like Scream Factory to get their hands on the new Don Coscarelli project. What it is is a mystery. A sequel. That's all I know.

It'd be interesting if they could grab it, and Exorcist III.

And Halloween 6: The Origin of Michael Myers would be amazing too.

That's why I always order with Amazon my friend. It only took one time for me to decide I would never order directly from "Shout!/Scream" and that was also from the sale last month. My copy of "Lifeforce" not only had a rip in the slipcover, but the disc was loose just floating around inside the case. They're shipping sucks. Atleast Amazon always ships in good packaging.

Another rumor is The Boogeyman.
Sony allegedly lost the rights and they are with Ulli Lommel now. And they may have worked a deal, possibly for all three.

Would make sense since Justin Beahm did tease that Slasher fans will enjoy an upcoming release.

Plus, Ulli is supposedly already soft-announced a blu-ray that many have speculated is a bootleg of his own film??

The Boogey Man is a really bad film, it's something I could see Code Red getting or maybe Synapse but Scream seems to stay away from films of that caliber

What!?

3 points:

One, lots of people love it. Including me.
(No ones ever claimed its well made, but its enjoyable) lol.

Two, its an exact fit for Scream, or any other horror/cult label.

Three, its not as bad as some of the film's they've released already.
But again, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Its not THAT bad. And "bad" doesn't seem like a reason not to release a cult classic horror film.
Especially if you're a HORROR label.

yeah because those DF's are true classic movies. Out of all the movies they release, by far the DF's are the worst. Personal opinion. Terror Vision, maybe being the one exception that should of got a standalone release. fact this DF's are awful to sort by and they share the same disk for the most part. very off putting

The Boogeyman is ****ing terrible. I really hope this isn't the slasher announcement.

What movies do you think are worse than The Boogeyman that Scream have already released? Cause I can't think of one.

Psycho IV isnt terrible either but Scream didn't like it and it didn't get released. I just think an Uli Lommel film just doesn't fit with them. Like I mentioned before, I could see another label getting it

They released The Video Dead...
I would say that's arguably just as terrible. But I like TVD too.
Contamination .7, Are you in the House Alone, also both terrible. But I like them!

Bad doesn't mean unenjoyable. Lots of movies are bad.

And no, not the 7th Heaver Boogey Man
