Can we please stop saying Echo Bridge on here? Its hurts my eyes to see their name, let alone a film they've put out in "HD".

Unbiased comments on NOTC. I thought it was okay, maybe too hokey for my tastes in 80s horror...the camp humor didnt gel with me. It's not the worst film ever made, it really just depends of your taste..I liked it better than Terrorvision. It was on par with Chopping Mall in terms of enjoyment. I dont own either film...

I'm not gonna suck on the balls of "Scream Factory" for this one. They dropped the ball. "Dog Soldiers"? "Ginger Snaps"? Is it just me, or was anyone else thinking the "Collector's Edition" banner was for the cult classic titles? Not garbage released essentially a decade ago.

This might have worked better as a double feature. This almost devalues the whole "Collector's Edition" line. I liked collecting all the "Collector's Editions", so far they're all great movies, worthy of that banner, but it bums me out that I'll be sitting out two "Collector's Edition" releases.

As far as I know the whole "Collector's Edition" has nothing to do with the value of the movie. It just implies that there is extra material of some kind included. Besides, Ginger Snaps is considered a cult film.

I'm certainly down for that.

One could probably make the argument that Ginger Snaps (and Dog Soldiers to a lesser extent) are considered cult classics at this point. You can't expect every label to have a perfect track-record in releasing films you want to see. I love Criterion, but I certainly have no desire to ever watch Border Radio again.

What an idiotic statement. Dog Soldiers and Ginger Snaps are better than most of the Scream's output so far.

So, it's like Snatch in that department? I'll be fine until someone with a really thick accent (Brad Pitt's Mickey) shows up.

Why not go all out and try to get something like Slither? Much better film not yet on Blu-ray.
I think that Universal might release it next October. Not just because its "horror title month", but because Guardians of the Galaxy comes out around that time.

Well, that's certainly debatable, since "better" and "worse" are mostly subjective affairs. I can understand why people are disappointed, as I find myself to be a bit, since I'd imagine most people would prefer for Scream to stick to pre-1995 cult classics. Those are the types of films that the label has focused on primarily, especially with their collector's edition releases, so it seems a bit peculiar to see these films getting that treatment over other, older films that perhaps need the love and attention more, since they're less likely to see a Blu-Ray release otherwise.

I agree. While i'm happy with "Dog Soldiers" ( not bothered about "Ginger Snaps" in the slightest) i think "Witchboard" is more deserving of a CE, it surprises me that scream didn't think so, also, i hope we don't get to many films from the early 2000s and scream move away from the 70s/80s stuff they built their name on.

Ive seen both, and to me Dog Soldiers is like a really really good SyFy Channel movie. Still not amazing by any means.

Ginger Snaps is phenomenal. Its a metaphor for teenage girls going through puberty, only Werewolves in the place of the actually subject matter. Like peer pressure, sex, (gross word alert) Menstruation, and drugs. Its so smart, and for some reason people seem to over look it as being such?

imo, Ginger Snaps is genius. Whereas Dog Soldiers is just a solid Werewolf movie. Ginger Snaps is much more than just any old Werewolf movie.

Ginger Snaps is the best announcement since The Beast Within; good move! It's a good modern werewolf film; but I think people assume more depth that is there - a puberty metaphor is hardly high brow or revolutionary (that subtext is easily disregarded for the effective pacing and conflicted emotion of the characters). Ginger Snaps is simply a good horror film, that's not had a proper OAR US release.

Dog Soldiers is in need of some picture quality work to improve on the initial blu-ray; but I understood, perhaps incorrectly, much of the flawed image was the result of budget film making and stock used. I wonder how Scream Factory will be able to improve on the visual grade of Dog Soldiers.

regarding the potential release of the heavily requested Psycho IV:

Is there any chance that you would put out Psycho IV: The Beginning on Blu-ray to go with the other films?

Usually agree with most of your opinions on movies as i feel we have similar tastes but can't agree with you on "Ginger Snaps"( though respect your opinion) its metaphors are so heavy handed it could of been financed by tampon makers, DS is imo superior in everyway. I don't get the sci fi movie stuff either, its a low budget horror film and has nothing to do with that channel except a foreign company bought it to show on its channel.I can however certainly see why scream got GS as it has a vocal fanbase as has DS.

I felt that the message was heavy-handed, there were few scenes where I cared about the characters, and it went on about 35 minutes too long.

I know its not actually a Sharknado lol. I think it has a SyFy feel to it, not like Mega Cat Vs GigantoPuss but like the older SyFy films.

I would like to say though, the first time I saw DS was on VHS not on TV. I think its a good movie, but not the best. Depends on what you're measuring it to I guess.

I must admit, I thought something was off about Ginger Snaps the first time I watched it, it was bugging me actually, so I stuck it back in, and it blew me away, it was like a completely different movie, especially after I picked up on the themes.

Strong Canadian accents annoy me, whereas I can listen to a redneck, Scott or Kiwi talk all day without getting frustrated. The Crack-Smoking Mayor of Toronto's coverage on CNN has been driving insane the way he speaks, but I digress lol.

My point is that the lead in the film, who was the Condom girl at the abortion clinic in Juno, makes me want to rip my ears off, she sounds overly stereotypical, like Degrassi gone BAD.
The film itself, well themed, well acted, an all around good movie. It grew on me quickly.

My Opinion of course. lol.

I love the scene where she's in the bathroom (like she got here first period) and then tries to cut her tail off. And she's covered in blood in front of the toilet screaming "Whats wrong with me".

I think that scene alone is enough to appreciate the film, but there's so much more that I adore about it.
