I am not sure what you are referring to NoirFan Other than the fact that you made me realize I meant to type "the comedic element eluded me" and not "alluded me".

Im getting a hunch (aka a gut feeling) for another Price and Godzilla HD set this year ...as well some Lynch films from Criterion as well...this could be another wallet screaming year
We'll just see how 2014 plays !
Did I miss something, have they actually confirmed they have Big G titles?

I loved it. That said, I still have not seen the first, third, or fifth films (or the remakes). I want to see them in the summer.

Feels way too long since we got some details on the upcoming 'Collector's Editions.' I'd like to know what they've got in store for "Darkman" and "Sleepaway Camp" and a few other non-CE titles as far as bonus features go.

The Darkman special features will be revealed this January. As for Sleepaway Camp, I don't see them announcing anything for a long time.

For whoever is maintaining the first post and updating it, first of all some of the release dates are wrong, mainly "Assault on Precinct 13."

But, just an idea/thought, they should also list what special features are known for the upcoming releases so we have an easy reference point. Like I know "Night of the Demons" and "Witchboard" special features have been announced, but I keep forgetting all this shit, it'd just be nice to have a quick nice and easy reference guide as to what is still to come and what will be on them without having to do all the searching.

Just wondering here, but how much special features do you think we should be given on a title in order for it to be deemed 'Collector's Edition'? Sometimes we get something like "Terror Train" which doesn't come with much at all and it gets the 'Collector's Edition' banner, yet something like "The Horror Show" which honestly comes just as packed and even one ups "Terror Train" because it has an audio commentary track.

So, obviously some name recognition and sizable fanbase must come into consideration when determining whether a title gets the 'Collector's Edition' banner. But, really how packed do you think a disc should truly be before they throw a 'Collector's Edition' banner on a title? It seems a lot of titles are passing by with just a commentary track and an interview or two with the talent involved in whatever title it may be such as "Body Bags" or "Psycho III."

Do you think we should just settle for being grateful that we're getting anything? Do you think more efforts should be made to get more archival things like 'on set' behind the scenes stuff, deleted scenes regardless of quality, rare things that were produced and aired on television to hype up a film before it's release, more retrospective documentary's, making-of footage ect.

Now, I know sometimes rights issues get in the way and some things are simply lost and weren't cared for regarding properly storing the elements. I just got thinking about this because I look at some of the newer releases I have and they have a somewhat significant amount of extras for their initial release. Now when we deem something a 'Collector's Edition' I think they should be consistently packing a very good amount of special features.

In no way am I unhappy with anything "Shout!/Scream Factory" having been doing, love these guys to death. This is just for conversational purposes and how the phrase and use of 'Collector's Edition' is being thrown around and sometimes used pretty loosely in regards of what actually is featured on the disc.

I think we could cut this thread in half if all the posts with wish lists got deleted.

You know what I'd adore if it weren't with Warner? If Shout Factory could get the rights to the 2/3 of the remake of Near Dark that was shot. Not because it's good or anything, but just to get it out there...
I mean, i's worth a look for three names being in it: Bill Paxton as Jesse, Heather Langenkamp as Diamond(back), and Jennette Goldstein as Mae(?).

I really do think that it is a matter of: (A) the popularity of the title and (B) the names involved.

Body Bags=> John Carpenter, Tobe Hooper, Mark Hamill
Terror Train=> Jamie Lee Curtis

That said, Horror Show is a mystery. By all counts, it should be a CE, having Sean S. Cunningham and Lance Henriksen's names on it.

Oh dear God, thank you.

With all the questions relating to rights it's hard to know where else to post related questions and such, but yes - all the wish lists do get a bit grating. :roll eyes:

As to Sony releasing 1990-current G films, let them. Who cares about those anyways? Let Shout run the clock back to the classics, lol.

Well, they COULD get King Kong Vs. Godzilla at the very least.

That'd be a Day One purchase for me.

As far as Collector Editions, I always felt it was more of an assigned designation for a title rather than any relation to the amount of special features. More like an 'elite' category within Scream releases. Simply put, films that Scream feels are good enough to call attention to - whether or not a wealth of supplemental features are available or not.

(I think I said the same thing 3 different ways. Oh well, as long as my point eventually gets across, right? )
