And, as I noted in the quote below last June before Samsung’s 4,000 nit Q900R television was announced (notwithstanding the the ridiculousness of 8K spatial resolution without there being a big compensatory increase in frame rate ), viewers needn’t worry about being ‘blinded’ by higher luminance display capability because the 4,000 nit figure with regards to this or any other future even higher nits TV, relates in practice to showing a tiny area of the screen (specular highlights) and in terms of content creation, colorists can’t just bump up the APL way more than it currently is nowadays because of the bolded –
