Thanks. The ice texture on the back was a total nightmare to get right. I was going to do an all ice Superbit at one time, but just never had the time.

Haven't been around much, moving around, living out the summer, etc etc.
Just trying to catch up, nice to see some new people around as well as some oldies and goodies still hanging in there.

Remember this thread is a common thread for all those to post their works, from gorgeous and incredible to just plain aweful. We do not discriminate, many have started from nothing and not knowing a single thing about custom creations.

Straight text is a hard medium to properly discuss opinions with emotion, if everyone keeps their criticisms civil then all shall go well. I am not saying comments on improvements or suggestions should not be shared, I am saying that keeping things civil is of utmost import and that comments should be presented with a suggestive voice not a demanding or commanding voice. Be sure to state that it is your opinion if it is. Be sure to inquire if the creator tried "X, Y or Z" because you believe those would improve the cover. If the creator comes back and states he/she likes the cover as is, don't argue over it.

Remember, be polite and don't think you know everything because there is always someone watching that knows more or has more experience than you. Thanks for participating in this wonderful thread!

Hello BPM,

I was wondering if you could make me a coustem art for Hanaible anthlogy. I know I've not been on this fourm for a bit. But I have posted, I also do not have the skills you or the other great artist have to make a cousem art cover. So it would be really nice if you could do it, I understand you have a lot on your plate.

I'll tell you what I would like, and if you want to do it you can, if not that's ok, I guess I'll leave it to any one who wants to try.

Front cover

A picutre of Anthony hopkens Hanaible and the actor in young Hanaible side by side(like they did in the one trailer for hannaible rising). Above the title Hanaible Anthlogloy(can't spell), bottom Hanable Rising-Red Dragon-the silence of the lambs-hannable.

Back cover

That up to you, but pleas make sure that all the details are right. I realizes the bd for hannable rising isn't out yet, so you cam do your best

Manhunter is dead to me, not a good fillXP

Thanks,

RI

Could anyone do covers for the Sopranos seasons that are out? I want to put them in matching cases--so far it's both parts of season 6 and season 1.

b) design their own complete cover - front to back
c) find good paper stock (or photo paper) that will aid in great looking covers
and
d) size and cut covers to the appropriate size

then, don't you think the minutiae is important? I mean, you're so picky that you go to the trouble to design, print and trim your own covers, but not so picky that you care that the stuff that you're printing is accurate or well thought out?

And that's my point. An NTSC logo shouldn't really appear on a Blu-ray cover. It's filler. It's minutiae that's aware that it's minutiae. It exists ONLY to be minutiae. Having the wrong running time or misusing a TrueHD logo serves no purpose on the cover, so why is it there? To ME, that's a sign it's NOT a solid design job, because the design, while being visually intriguing, still has to serve a purpose. Otherwise, what's the point of putting any information on it? I'll give you an example... If you look at dvdmike's Star Wars cover, he DOES have a TrueHD logo in the specs grid. Now, just having called you out for having a TrueHD logo on Machete and telling you that Fox uses DTS-HD Master exclusively, this would seem at odds with that complaint, wouldn't it? But I can guarantee you (without ever even speaking to him and based solely on the quality of the covers I've seen here) that that is a deliberate choice because dvdmike is taking into account Lucasfilm's relationship with Dolby that this might be the rare case where Fox uses TrueHD instead. That's a guy who's really thought this through. He's not just moving stuff around from a previous cover. Everything about what he's done is well thought out. He may benefit from other opinions on occasion, but I don't think he's that off the mark.

But can't you have both? A pleasing/creative design AND getting all of the details just so? Getting the tech specs and the branding of the disc right is far more of a design challenge than someone photoshopping "picture, picture, box of text, picture, picture, picture, box of text, picture, picture, box with credits, giant logos." Trust me, it's much more difficult to mirror what would appear like a genuine studio release while developing unique creative concepts to blend together with. I find dvdmike's covers to be very close to that goal. Like I said, he's most certainly in the area of 'refining' with these. Another example, on his Phantom Menace cover... I would probably slide the back image just a hair more to the right to clear Anakin of the Specs Grid. It's a minor slide; probably 20 pixels. But it's not a poor design by any definition of the word. The design (even as minimalist as it is right now without the special features) looks finished. You could print that up today and have it ready on the shelf. That tells me its a good cover.
Someone picked up on that then! Lucasfilm have never released a Movie without Dolby and I dont see them starting now!
Love the Cherry moon tape cover, thats awesome

To me, she looks like a wax sculpture of a beautiful woman that someone partially melted.

Anyone think they could make the DVD cover art of HBO's 'Temple Grandin' into Blu-ray sized cover art?

Do you care if it's slightly compressed height-wise?

What do you mean? I don't need the entire art on the height, there are certain parts of the cover that could be cut off. I don't want it looking smushed if that is what you mean, just cropped at the bottom perhaps? Do you need high-res art, I think I can provide that. Let me know.

Thanks so much, I really appreciate it.
