Hmmm...this afternoon after getting home from work I was left with a quandry -- what to do with all the free time that had been occupied with doing the Bond custom covers.

I decided to start work on the Star Wars custom I mentioned a couple of pages back. Its got its own set of challenges in that the three horizontal posters I am using have different dimensions. But being the UK posters for the movies the nostalgia value is high.

That would look good, methinks.

The picture of Daniel Craig on the front of this looks out of proportion. His face looks really squished (or stretched, depending on which direction we're talking.) Double check it, I think you'll see that I'm right. And if the girl is attached to him in the source picture, then she's out of proportion too, but she doesn't really look it.

I do note that the person putting together the credits made a gaffe. They listed Martin Campbell as the Director. I will redo the credits myself rather than use credits downloaded from one of the sites that generates credits for movies.

I checked the proportions. They are correct so the fault must be with the poster I used.

All the covers (except QoS) are uploaded to EuphoricFX.

I have to fix that error in the credits and then I will upload QoS. I'm in no hurry especially since I don't own the QoS blu-ray.

I heard that the director Marc Forster had recorded an audio commentary before the QoS blu-ray was released in 2009 so I am willing to wait for the collector's edition in 2012.

Rough draft of my "Star Wars" Blu-ray custom cover for compiling the theatrical release DVDs and the Bonus Materials disc to sit in a 4-disc Viva Elite case alongside the recent official release.

Since the official release omitted the quite excellent "Empire of Dreams" documentary I decided to include that here.

Please note this is a WIP.

Just an update on my Star Wars customs. I've begun uploading them to EuphoricFX but I have to do them 1 at a time and it's been time consuming so they aren't all up yet. Here's the first set. I will update my original cover post with all the links.

Conan the Barbarian:

Conan the Destroyer:

Conan: the Collection

These are available in both US and International versions on Euphoricfx.org.

These took me a LONG time. I spent a great deal of time on "Barbarian" making the Thulsa Doom "snakes" logo and then searching for pictures of the barbarians--there weren't many--so I eventually settled on small silhouettes. I'm particularly proud of the little Thulsa Doom, which was made from a picture of him waist-up superimposed over a horse silhouette. I think it works quite well. The front cover features the centerpiece of the theatrical poster, but I actually went and found a different Vallejo poster for the "fire" background--the theatrical fades too quickly to black for my taste, and I wanted the painting to match, so Boris provided me with some flames. I did the flames on the back from scratch (and learned about gradient masks, but have since forgotten how to use them...doh).

For Destroyer, I wanted a complementary look; I wasn't going for frost or ice per se, but crystals (evoking the crystal chamber where he fights the sorcerer), and I think it works fairly well. It's interesting compared with Barbarian, anyway, and to complete the theme I cooled off the "CONAN" logo on the front as well. Each spine has a different sword (his father's sword on Barbarian vs the Atlantean sword on Destroyer) and I added Dagoth the Dreaming God to the back, with Bombaata's mace to help balance it out.

The collection is largely just a couple of Frazetta paintings; the front features Arnie pasted in from an early teaser which was almost this exact painting just redone to show Arnie, so I went back to the Frazetta. The back is just general mayhem; I tried to blend the color palette so it works together, and added a slight silhouette of the Wheel of Pain to the back to keep the "circular object in the center of the back cover" kind of thing I had going on the first two.

Anyway, here they are!
I like them.

All of them except for QoS are up on EuphoricFX.

As for the montage, I was trying to figure out a way of showcasing them and decided this method would work best. It gives a snap-shot overview.

I love all 3 of your Conan covers Imrahil.

Can anyone who has the time make a Blu-ray sized custom cover for Space Jam using this DVD cover as the base. Change specifications to whatever genric sounding Blu-ray specs; don't mind if the audio is listed as DTS-HD MA when it's regular. Just want the cover and back to be a resized replica, please.
[Show spoiler]

Shit. Just saw it big, and it's in Spanish. English, please. Sorry. I only used that link for it's high resolution.

Some minor alterations.

I was going to change the font to Franklin Gothic Medium since that was the font used in the movies, but I really didn't like the look of it.

Also, you might want to change the front cover poster art of "Star Wars" with the other famous poster art, considering the quads on the back cover contain different art than the front cover.

Just my two cents.

Here's a HR version of that poster here...

Here's a giant-size version of a different scan...

Working on custom slips/combo packs for the first 3 Pirates movies. Started out with Pirates 3 first to test out the template i made based on existing releases.

Still looking for ideas. Going to look for a new printer for the covers themselves first. Not sure yet how i'll do it, but i'm definitely gonna try!

When i show off custom slipcovers i usually copy the main image and do the perspective myself. When i picture the BD case itself i currently use stock pictures, gonna work on some 3D models of the cases though so i can use those.
