Custom Cover Art Thread

I know my skills are nowhere near as good as most of the artist in this thread but I thought I would share a few covers I have done recently


I bought House of the Devil and Doubt from Dollar General with no cover/case so I whipped up a little custom job for each. House has no real customs to speak of and I didn't like the regular scan of Doubt.





I made these 2 to fit in with the Scream Factory Halloween series. I know the artwork for The Day After Halloween isn't for it but I wanted something that kinda matches. And a big thank you to Illest Villian for the clean-up work he did on the Hellurween poster

in printer settings select photo, and then "High" or another similar quality setting. I have a Canon MG7720 printer and this always turns out retail looking covers provided that the source image was high quality to begin with.

It's worth noting that your particular model of printer has been regarded as an all around office printer and a few other reviews have also complained about the image quality of photos. It is likely an inherent flaw in the printer itself. I went with my Canon because of it's ability to print to disc directly and multiple ink tanks which allow for better control of the color management (in my opinion). It might be worth looking at a new printer that has solid reviews for photo quality if the above settings don't help.

Thanks. I'll give Undercover a shot. Yeah, generally my wife is the one that uses the printer so when we bought It, I was not the one that looked into its performance.

Since I don't really foresee printing an abundance of covers, I don't believe it feasible to upgrade. I may have to just settle with what I can do with this one.

Flicker Alley's covers are somewhat of an aquired taste, and I lean more traditional than they do. That's why I had to make this custom cover for their magnificent Blu-ray release of The Lost World.



Please note; this is made to fit the Criterion style cases with taller inserts and wider spine than the regular US Blu-ray covers.

I'm on PS CC, using HP Brochure Paper and a Brother MFC-j870dw.

I've tried a few things but my prints look dull or muted. Any help is appreciated.

is the HP Brochure Paper glossy?? that could also be a problem
i use HP Everyday photo paper Glossy at 200 g/m2 on a canon printer
when i print with PS i choose print and when the print settings shows up i go to printer setting and choose High/Highest setting for printing (usually its on standard/medium)

HP Brochure paper is glossy on both sides and is also roughly the same thickness as retail paper. I used photo paper for years but there is really no comparison to the HP Brochure paper... especially if you like to print inner artwork on your releases.

I got bored tonight and made a mockup cover (obviously isn't the right size for the amount of discs this set would have but...) Yeah just being hopeful that the Hobbit Trilogy get's release in High Frame Rate like Billy Lynn's Half-time Walk did. And the movies would look freaking gorgeous in Dolby Vision.
