Default Godzilla: The Show-era Films (Individual Film Covers)

This is a bit of a longer post, so I apologize in advance for the amount of files, but I do hope you all enjoy these.

Back when Criterion first announced the Showa-era set along with the litany of newly commissioned artwork, I knew I wanted to create individual covers for each film.

To streamline everything: the bottom logos and special features section carries over throughout the series (as does the spine number and barcode - which is the actual barcode for the set). Each cover gets a unique synopsis (taken from Criterion's website), copyright blurb and monster co-stars icons.

Of course, many will wonder what the point of this is, seeing as many of the films in the set share a disc, but there is some life hacking the dedicated collector can do to ensure that only 3 of the 15 cases for these films sits on your shelf empty.

Godzilla: Disc 1
Godzilla Raids Again: Disc 2
King Kong vs Godzilla: Disc 8 (the Japanese version is on this disc)
Mothra vs. Godzilla: Disc 3
Ghidorah: empty (on disc 3)
Astro Monster: empty (on disc 3)
Ebirah: use Kraken's disc
Son of Godzilla: Disc 4
Destroy All Monsters: use the Tokyo Shock disc
All Monsters Attack: use Disc 5
Hedorah: use Kraken disc
Gigan: use Disc 6 or Kraken disc
Megalon: use Disc 6 or Tokyo Shock disc
Mechagodzilla: use Disc 7
Terror of Mechagodzilla: empty.

Without further ado.....

And some like myself only use cover art in the digital realm. When cataloging my Blu-ray's in DVD Profiler (...cataloging software) and My Movies (...front end for browsing my collection on the big screen) I always create a profile (parent) for the boxset as a whole, and profiles (child) for each individual film. For each of the child profiles I always go with front/back cover images that are specific to the particular film if possible. Well, it's easy to do so for the front cover images. Often times for the back cover images I'll just use the same back cover image I'm using for the boxset as a whole. Nothing more lame than browsing one's collection by cover image and not having unique front cover images for the individual films contained within a boxset.

These look fantastic!

I'm hoping for artwork to fit all the discs in a thick blu-ray case similar to the one "The Fast & The Furious 7 Movie Collection" came in.

Two eye surgeries since June (the second just yesterday) as limited my time in front of a computer monitor lately. Red Heat was the first cover I've finished in a while. I plan to get to the Bond covers as soon as I can spend the time at the computer.

Trying to clear up my backlog of covers before the holiday season,
and this one's been in there for a while. I'll be making standard covers
for all 3 films for those of you that need them for standard Blu-rays as well

Available now on my site!!!

Thought about it but Scream Factory did a solid job on that box set with original poster art for the covers. Might be cool to use hi-res scans of those covers and just add a cool spanning spine pic. Hmmm...
