Default Superman Blu-ray covers by Nissen

Here are a few odds and ends for my Superman series collection.

Having scraped the bottom of the barrel for available artwork for Superman IV, I've come up with these options.
(Based on the French poster art, the Japanese video artwork and the UK teaser poster artwork respectively)

And just one more for Superman III, using the Japanese Laserdisc artwork, which is reflected in one of the Superman III trailers.

And I couldn't neglect the 4K artwork for Superman - The Movie. This particular still has been done to death by this point, so hopefully something new comes along in a few years.

Now, none of these are essential, and certainly not favourites of mine, I just had fun seeking out alternative artwork and adapting it (sometimes pimping it slightly) for Blu-ray style sleeves.

All are available via a PM request to me.

The rest of the Superman series (for those that came in late):

If anyone is looking for something to do, may I request customs for the first 3 Trancers movies? I've always thought the covers were not very good. Maybe something along the lines of the 88 films release for the first one, but for the Full Moon disc.

Has anyone created custom art for this?

I ignored the warnings and purchased what is, undoubtedly, the worst packaging I have ever seen. Discs are stacked, you can’t get discs out without removing other discs first, it’s difficult to get the discs out, and it is inexplicably DVD case height rather than BD height.

Oh no! I just googled how it looks! I am so glad I got the regular blu-rays for those seasons.

I know this is a bit of an add question, but I'm having a little trouble finding a template for old school DVD custom cases. Does anyone have a blank template, or know where one can be obtained without registering or paying for it? I want to make some custom covers for a particular project of mine and all I have are bluray psd's I've obtained and I just want a basic dvd template. I'm not as suave to just create my own because I like the line grids and what not. If this isn't allowed to ask, I do apologize but I'd like to ask the experts around here.

^Awesome covers. Although perhaps an alternate one for Phantom that includes the 1923 silent film and "The Climax" to make it more of a "Legacy Collection"?

These are bloody brilliant, mate!
The vertical bars in the design really stand out. The way your design allows you to keep the tall designs of the original posters is the best solution I've ever seen to this problem. You've certainly raised the bar around here lately, and these just won you the gold medal!

It's been a long time coming, but I've finally finished my Harryhausen set. Having been released by so many different companies worldwide (Warner, Sony, Twilight Time, Indicator, etc.), these films were in dire need of a cohesive custom set of Blu-ray sleeves.

When choosing artwork I've opted for the painterly posters, avoiding the 50's style with sensational captions and stark graphic elements. This means many of my poster choices were Euro-centric, but that's a matter of coincidental aesthetic preference, not geographical. There is optional artwork for a select few of the films, where I couldn't make up my mind :-)

I tried to avoid using artwork that's already been used for a commercial release where possible, but where there IS overlap I endeavoured to use the artwork in a different way. If you compare my Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger to Indicator UK's release you'll see what I mean.

Those who have followed my work will note that I chose to forego my usual inclusion of credits and logos on the front posters. Many of the poster designs were originally tailored around masses of text, but I wanted to keep everything as clean as possible. I feel I was (mostly) successful in adapting the artwork to work with only the lone title treatment.

I admit I cheekily touched up a few of the posters to eliminate som nagging issues. For one thing, I switched out the poor likeness of Caroline Munro on the French poster for The Golden Voyage of Sinbad with one from the UK quad by Brian Bysouth.
[Show spoiler]

Speaking of Brian Bysouth, I made an effort to identify the poster artists and credit them on the back, but some names seem to have been lost to time. While Tom Chantrell is most often credited for the iconic Raquel Welch poster for One Million Years B.C., the particular variant I used was done by Jack Thurston and is noted as such.

Finding good sources for all the posters was the usual pain, and I've spent roughly 50% of the time trawling internet auction sites, enthusiast websites and other online resources for good scans of the artwork. I had to stop about halfway through the project to wait for some essential purchases of poster books from Amazon before I could complete the set. In the end, some of the finished covers are still a little rough if you look too closely.

Note also the lack of any listing of Special Features or detailed A/V specs. These sleeves are all left intentionally generic, so that they can be used with whatever release you might have. For studio logos I tried to stick with the original distribution company, but that may have varied from country to country.

Oh, one last thing, the spines have production years on them, rather than continuous numbering of the films. That way you won't have gaping holes in the continuity if you don't have them all. I like to have they years on there to easily sort the films in production order on the shelf. Just my personal thing :-)

Anyway, on with the show, as they say :-) These are all available via PMs to me as usual.

^Many thanks for the compliment Fritz....and right back at ya. Exceptional work on the fantastic (pun intended) Harryhausen set. I can appreciate the amount of time and patience it requires to track down quality resources for the various elements needed to do a set like this justice.

I'm really digging the look of those banners...they give the set a classy uniformity. I had considered doing my own Harryhausen set at some point but no need now, you nailed it my friend!

P.S. so very cool indeed to see some new stuff from you
