A couple of quick (and quite imperfect) covers. The book the 35th UHD of Labyrinth is nice and all, but I'd rather have a standard plastic case on my shelf.

Paramount did us dirty on Almost Famous by making the 4K UHD and Blu-ray two separate releases, so I bought both and made a cover for a 4-disc set.

When Shout released their Abbott & Costello box set of the Universal films, I made new covers that also included the non-Universal titles, making a total of 5 volumes.

Has anyone made a 2-pack cover for the Shout releases of City Slickers & City Slickers II: The Legend of Curly's Gold? I'd like to store both discs in a single case... always conserving shelf real estate.

There's a "Double Feature" cover available here authored by tmscrapbook. Well, it's a DVD cover. I worked up a Blu-ray version for kicks just now. End result shown below. If you like I'll reach out to tmscrapbook asking if it's okay to provide you a copy. Just let me know.

Picked this up today double packed with a bad movie. Needed a solo case, and most available scans were awful. Threw this together.

I've seen that one online. Whoever originally made it evidently didn't bother to use the title logo for the second film, and tried to recreate it with inferior fonts choices.

The Pink Panther Peter Sellers collection was a similar situation when it released on DVD...

This collection had all the Peter Sellers films except for "Return of the Pink Panther" arguably one of the best ones.

Fortunately Shout Select released a collection on Blu-ray which had them all.

Default Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines

One of my favorite comedies has always been Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines.

I had the film on VHS back in the day. I never upgraded to DVD and I was a bit surprised and disappointed to see it had a Blu-Ray release. The disappointment came from the fact the Blu-Ray was a Twilight Time release limited to 3000 copies. I didn't feel like paying $175 on e-bay for *RARE* OOP film. I saw someone mention that there was a japanese release complete with english audio/and subtitles. The menu is in Japanese but I was willing to work around that.

81Dxgj5JcpL._SL1378_.jpg

Above you can see the Twilight Time release compared to the Japanese release. I thought, why not just make a custom cover.

I actually kind of liked the front of the japanese cover's more saturated colors and the treatment of the cast. It makes it a bit different. I wondered what it would be like if I combined the Twilight Time cover and this one. Had to work with the sizing a bit. Hopefully the attachments let you view at a larger size due to the upload constraints.

Magnificent Men cover-2 copy.jpg

I kept alot of the elements on the front including the 50th anniversary banner. I cloned out the Japanese characters at the bottom and reconstructed the audience in the background. On the back I reset all the text. And on the Twilight Time cover they used a light blue/gray for the box. I used a bright red to match the front. Also reset the spine text with a similar treatment to that of the front. I added a disclaimer on the back saying it is a custom cover.

I also used a stock image of Terry Thomas for an interior/double sided cover. The disc still has the japanese label of course but I could do a custom label.

It's actually worse than that-- on the back covers, I have Naughty Nineties listed as the last film on volume 2 and the first film in volume 3. I've got to do this stuff while the sun is up. My proofreading really goes downhill after dark.

I think part of the issue is that while I'm trying to list the films in chronological release order, Warner's DVD release of Lost in a Harem and A&C in Hollywood are on a single disc, which I think messed up the flow of the back covers as far as correct order goes.

As it is, the last disc in vol. 2 has to be Warner's single disc/double feature of Lost in a Harem and A&C in Hollywood, so Lost in a Harem is in the right place. Since ... in Hollywood and Naughty Nineties both came out in 1945, they're still kind of in order of release by year at least.

UPDATE--links in my original post now go to fixed covers for volumes 2 & 3. Thanks for catching my goofs!
