Wow, you guys do some amazing work.
I do some edits on Photoshop for fun and I really enjoy it, tho I'm not a pro nor anything like that.

I did this brazilian cover Looking For Mr. Goodbar, it is quite simple but I'm proud of how it turned out. I used a Warner 2016 template. Unfortunately there were some info I couldn't translate to portuguese due to the font.

This and all your recent works look great. I would like to add that they all would be perfect if, like this one, you omitted the silver banner at the top that reads “4K ULTRA HD + BLU-RAY” etc. An “Ultra HD” logo on the spine, small and unobtrusive, is all that’s really necessary to identify the format(s). Or maybe some small version of the format logo at the bottom on the back cover.

See releases by Indicator for more examples of this.

This seems like a touchy topic, because artists have their own motivations and goals for these projects and put a hell of a lot of work into making them appear the way they do, but I agree completely with Bob. Silver banners like that are such a drag on an otherwise interesting project.

I get that riffs on what Criterion does aren't to everybody's taste, but the boutique labels put out really interesting work within their own formats that don't have all the marketing stuff that majors insist on including, telling me that Blu-rays are "Simple. Fast. Portable," and being sure to add an FBI piracy warning. And they all look better than the majors to my eye. There's a lot more to love on Blu-ray, you say? Lovely, but keep it off the back cover, Fox.

Put another way, I imagine that people are working on fan art for the latest studio hit, Wicked. I would much, much rather see custom art for Wicked in the style of Second Run, Radiance (with an obi strip!), Indicator, VinSyn, or even Mondo Macabro than what's going to show up at Wal Mart.

Or create something wholly original with a brand new template! Studio marketing stuff is an eyesore and completely unnecessary to making something beautiful to keep on your shelf.

I agree, for the most part. I started making covers long before 4K and early 4K covers used the silver banner so it became habit. I have started to drop the silver banner but I still like the text /logo on the front. A couple of Lionsgate steelbooks have shown a different way to use this, and i find myself using it more and more.

As you can see below...

Since I've started displaying covers on a couple of my shelves, I remembered my John Wick discs (1-3) are housed on a 3-disc set in a single keepcase. I prefer individual cases so I got to work today. The first three are done and #4 is a WiP...

You're right of course, but, speaking for myself, I'm not an "artist", just a collector that often prefers the front of my discs to look like I want them to look and not how some junior marketing intern makes them look. I don't take commissions and I don't make covers for other people. I make covers for me. Yes, I do share them, but only because I was asked to long ago and my attitude is, if someone doesn't like what I make, then don't download it. But it is what it is and I made it to my liking. If someone else likes it also, that's totally cool with me.

Yes, there is a little ego gratification in there somewhere.

I really like the solution you came up with here. Running the 4KUHD + BLU-RAY + DIGITAL banner vertically along the side works really well and doesn't create a barrier for the artwork. Since you have the main text in the center of the image, an artificial barrier is the last thing you need. Nice job.

I was looking at the forum listing for the upcoming steelbook from Walmart. I've seen that poster before, and since I'm wast...er, making covers again, I decided I liked it.

Then, I went to Walmart's site to see what they were charging for it and found they are using different art than is posted here. I figured, what the hell, somebody might want the art and not want to buy the same disc again (for $47!).

These are uploaded to Uncovered.name, as usual.

I can't seem to leave this one alone. Decided to try Bob Simms suggestion and leave off the "4K" banner altogether. Also adjusted some sizing and positioning while I was at it. The back now replicates VS's except the title treatment.

Amazing work, especially on the first one.

Man, I wish I had the talent you guys have... I do have a lot of fun trying to create cover arts, but I would really like them to look professional like yours.[
How do you do that? There's any tutorial you can send me?

I managed to create those two covers, even tho I liked them they're still far far away from what I wish they could look like:

I have a request, unless it's already here, maybe someone will let me know. Anyway, It's my feeling that the blu-ray release of The Giant Gila Monster & The Killer Shrews have the artwork backward. I feel Shrews is the "superior" of the two films. My question, is anyone willing to make a "Shrews" cover with mention of "Gila Monster" as a 2nd feature? The spine doesn't need to mention "Gila" at all, or at best "2nd bonus feature" in smaller print. Thanks in advance & hope for some ideas.

Hello. First time posting here or using a forum at all. I was wondering if someone would be willing to print a cover off and send it to me. If so, what's the procedure?

Hey man, what software do you use for the mockup?
I can't find a decent one for Photoshop and Imandix is awful to use.
