Well, this is my first attempt at cover art. It's for the front cover of Serenity, one of my fav movies. This is fun, but very tedious and a lot to learn wow. I can't get the space clouds right grrr...

Hopefully this evolves into something worthwhile...

Has anyone done anything cool for JFK that would insert into a typical Blu- clamshell?

@BPM, fantastic Inception cover! It's sad to know that the official cover won't come close to looking as good as that one.

@alexpeters, sorry to hear that jackasses can't keep from stealing your stuff. It just makes you wonder what makes some people tick.

I don't really care much, except if I am not getting credit for the work. Which I wasn't.

I don't mean to showoff or anything but here's what I'd do instead Avoid trying to imitate clouds & space from posterart & just enlarge it enough so you don't need to do anything too time consuming. Then find a logo image of 'Serenity', blend it to something like 'Lighten colour' so it becomes transparent & fits in with the image nicely. Then try to get the official fonts, search for a Firefly font (called Nuptial) & use that instead of something plain & common like Arial. Then select a part of a face you like, copy that & paste it, shrink it & put it on the spine & blend if necessary. Done!

And after that it should look something like this after only 10min (I forgot to use a blu-ray template so its a blue DVD case ):

Agreed, this looks good... nicely done back!

Can you please reduce the size of your preview it is huge and mess with the thread making it hard to see.

Thanks Matt, glad you like!!

And I agree that the studio will probably go simple and recycle poster art! It makes me angry because the design company/studio designers have infinite more resources to work with than we do for covers!!!

I sometimes wonder how many images the designers have to choose from. I swear on occasions they just have nothing & make it up as they go along

*working on Milo & Otis*
Designer: "Okay, I need a picture of a cat and dog. Oh look! I found a picture of a cat from google! This one's black & white & fat but I'm sure nobody will notice. Lesse....I need a dog now" *googles* "Hmm, according to Google Paris Hilton is a dog! In she goes then! Done!"

Ohh yeah! I like that it really works well. So much better than the studio version where River looks kind of drunk and un-showered (kinda like my ex-girlfriend ) I should know from working with software not to re-invent things and use what's available, especially just starting out...Thanks!

Here is the final X-MEN Trilogy cover I did with advice from jlchavis. Simple, yet classy.

Thought I'd put up a request here. I'm in need of a Final Destination 2 replacement cover for the one that Hurricane Frisky (aka my dog) had decided to partially destroy. Thanks in advance guys.

Default Lord of the Rings

For those that liked the old book style of the DVD extended editions. Very simple covers, but they were a challenge to build from scratch!! I might change the back images once I can find the right style.
UPDATED: FELLOWSHIP WITH CORRECT ACTUAL BACK ARTWORK

UPDATED: TWO TOWERS WITH BACK ARTWORK CLOSE TO ORIGINAL

UPDATED: RETURN OF THE KING WITH CORRECT BACK ARTWORK

Something like this might work nice for the back. Also, Might want to add more logos to the back cover other than the new line cinema like DD, DTS, etc.

I was thinking something more like this. With the X men Logo under the text on the back so that it doesn't seem too empty.

thought about the elfish writing but that's not how the original ones are. All the logos, special features, specs etc. will be on the insert I will make to go with the covers. Just like the originals, the backs are totally clean with just the line art drawings and the new line logo. Just have to find the right line art drawings for the back to match.

They look great but that'd confuse me into thinking I was about to watch the extended editions
