For free, try these good open source programs -

GIMP for image manipulation
GIMP

OpenOffice Draw for layout
OpenOffice

For a price, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator are probably the standard...

I started designing a cover a week ago when I learned about the Scream trilogy being released in Canada, in anticipation of a crappy Alliance cover (like the Halloween trilogy they recently released). They've represented though with an actual slipcase that I really like, but thought I'd share this with you guys anyhow. It's funny, because the covers are pretty similar, minus the color scheme.

Anyway, thoughts and comments are welcome.

It's a bit simple, might want to ditch the UPC (never liked those myself) and add a little more to the cover. Maybe a character montage around the mask.

i used pant.net and gimp also ill make the next blu-ray 3-D cover on the Nightmare before Christmas

But did you actually make any of that, or just put a poster in a "Blu-ray 3-D" case??

well i did made the Blu-ray 3-D case but i have to put the poster because i couldn't find anything to make it look like 3-D blu-ray movie
