Does anyone know if there is some kind of sealant that can be sprayed or applied over a glossy photo print to prevent smudging, etc.?
This is in regards to my BTTF slip-box project. I've been doing some experiementing using both card stock and as of last night photo paper (I've made about 3 to 4 boxes now in experimenting with this with varying degrees of success). What I found works well for the most part (in terms of getting both a quality print finish to the box, while making it stable) is printing the images on some fairly sturdy photo paper, and then in the process of assembling it, cutting out appropriate sized pieces of the card stock to glue to the back of the printed imaged/ inside of the box, giving it extra support. The problem is that if even a small amount of glue touches the printed area, or if there is any moisture at all on my hands and I touch the box, the printing starts smearing (the latter issue being something of concern of general handling even after completing the box). I'm hoping to find some way of sealing the printed area to prevent future smudging. |

Well, after a lot of trial and error (I think I have 4 or 5 "reject" box attempts sitting around right now... they are all functional, but have obvious imperfections), I think my BTTF set-box is pretty much done. This was my first time really doing something like this. But it's BTTF... so I was motivated!
I wasn't happy with the print quality when printing straight onto card stock. I then picked up some glossy photo paper, and my first attempt making a box out of it went okay, but the print was too easily smudged. But today I finally made what I believe will be my final box for this set. I actually had this spray can of glossy acrylic sealer that I got a while back for something else entirely. I made new prints on the glossy paper, let them dry for a bit, then I sprayed this stuff over them (the description said it works well for photos, so I figured what the heck). As I cut out the pieces (I made tabs, etc, for where they would fold over and connect to be glued) and began to assemble them, I also cut out pieces of card stock paper that I glued (using krazy glue) to the inside of the box for extra support. This final box still has a few imperfections, but it's the most "professional" looking out of all of my attempts. There are a few very minor bumps, etc, here and there, but nothing major. The only thing that really irks me is that I got this that I got this weird imperfection/smudge mark from the top accidentally coming into contact with some stray crazy glue that was on the cardboard that I was assembling everything on. But I'm not going to attempt to make this again just because of that. This one turned out so good overall that I don't think I could do it again. I have some pics below. The colors seems to come across as being more dull and less vibrant in the pics than they are in person, but I think that is due at least in part to the light reflecting on the coating that I put over the box. But without further ado, here are the pics.... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

This may be a dumb question, but how would I go about getting one that is sized and shaped for this? |

Photoshop question.
I grabbed the Warner Bros. template from the beginning of the thread & am trying to fumble my way through photoshop. I think I've figured out how to edit everything but am having issues with the spine. In particular, can someone tell me how I can change the Blu-Ray and spine background logo to a different color? thanks |

For the WB logo, I haven't found a good version online (wiki WB page has the simplified monochromatic logo). In the template, you could just select the white around the WB logo with the magic wand & delete, though that will be a little jaggy. You could also create a path around it and select it, which will be smoother. (Paths can be a pain, but they are almost always worth the trouble!) Hope this helps! |

I just ordered Police Story 3: Supercop from Kam & Ronson. I've not received it yet, but I do know that the cover has Chinese (Cantonese?) written all over it along with English. So I decided to make my own!
With these elements, I did the front and spine. I'm still working on the back and the special features, but it's a bit hard, since I can't find a decent place online stating the features. Will finish it once it's received. ![]() ![]() |

i actually like the slipcover just despise the crappy plain plastic digi packing. If the outerslipcover is wide enough to hold a multidisc case, i would just want to print or find trilogy cover art to use in a multidisc case and put the slip cover over it. |
