You know, you may wanna look at it in PS first because if it looks fine there, then it may be a compression issue with Imandix cover pro, which by the looks of it you have a "trial" membership which may compress the size of your jpeg at low res.

Don't know. There may not be a problem with the resolution of the actual cover at all.

Thanks, I will look at all of the above. The image I am using is 2480x3507. Maybe I just need a bigger higher res image. I have another that is 4050x6000. I will try that one and see how it looks. A lot of the text in the image was already there. I may need to get rid of it and put in fresh text too.

Thanks for the input guys. I appreciate and will post an update later this evening.

Thanks 350!

Tris just hit the 100,000 resources mark recently and it's really exciting! He and some of the other guys like Lucan and hoofer have put quite a bit of awesome work into maintaining the site and keeping it fresh. I'd say that with bpm now a member of the site, and having dv8 as a RA (resident artist) we've sealed the deal as being the most talented group/cover site on the web!

Don't mean to brag. I'm just proud to be an efxer!

remember:

You can always reduce the size, but rarely ever can you increase it without loosing resolution! Your plan to use a higher res image is a good one.

Cool bud, thanks. I will rework it with the higher res image and introduce new text rather than using what is already in the image.

Thanks again!

You're more than welcome. Introducing the same text over it's current location may not be worth your time, especially having to patch the layer with a clone stamp and patch tool and then adding a new layer of text over the patched area. It may not be worth the amount of work nor necessary at all, especially if the image has a high enough resolution, then the letters won't have that aliasing effect.

But it's up to you. You're using a great image on the front. Keep up the good work.

As opposed to tight resolution?

I just find it bizarre that Imadix is charging for alpha/beta stage software, currently at version 0.9.3.0

I have access to a 1200x1200 color laser printer and I'm just wondering what other folks use here to print their covers...

Ok, I went back and started from scratch and I still cant figure out what I am doing wrong. I bought the latest version of Imandix and used a higher res picture. Still the font comes out terrible even if I go in and recreate the words. Anyone know why this is? I am using Photoshop CS5 and Imandix 0.9.3.0.

You will always get some distortion on Imandix covers, its mostly because its taking images and distorting them to fit the shape of the display cover at the angles and skew to make it look 3D. You'll see this more so on line art, ie fonts, actual lines, bar codes. Its not your photoshop image, just the cover program.

Thanks man. It was driving me crazy. The image looks great in photoshop and then I get it into Imandix and it looks distorted.

I will work on this one some more and see what I can do with it.

I really don't like the tagline though. Not your font, just the tagline itself.

I agree. I will rework that part too and try to come up with something better.

Thanks for the input.

no! That's why its so great for people like me! I don't have to spend any money on stuff right now while I'm learning (I don't feel like paying for stuff that I'm ultimately probably not going to use). Plus there are really talented people there that I can ask questions of and get some really good tips. Plus, the customs they have there are just amazing to look at... I haven't even downloaded any but I look through them all the time!

Not customs, because the logos, movie titles, images, and such are copyrighted, selling custom covers is not a very good idea.

There are sites where they are posted for download though, some require credits that can be earned by uploading customs or purchasing credits for download. That, by what I understand, is acceptable.

I managed to finish my Police Story III: Supercop covers. I did two versions. Both are uploaded @ http://www.replacethecase.com as are all of my other covers.
