then just print it at home by yourself. buy some 32lb gloss text paper and just print at home.

I don't have a printer of my own anymore. I had a cheap inkjet model about a year ago, but it broke down.

I've read all your posts about this situation, and man that's a lot of bullcrap to put up with. I could see them turning you away if you were making multiples of each print.

When I was at Staples, I had some artwork scanned and then a different picture I'd put together printed. I went to the service desk and told them what I needed and they did it. At no point did they ask me if I owned the artwork that they scanned and saved to a usb drive (I didn't draw it, but I paid someone else to), nor did they ask me anything about the people that appeared in the picture they printed (my great-grandparents and their children).

It was very painless, but I was worried because I had heard stories about kinkos similar to your story and I didn't know if they'd hassle me at Staples or not.

There are 14 with a Dallas address. I am the graphic designer/shop manager at the location in Chester, VA and I would print them for someone walking in my door without question.

Hey, does anybody know where I can find this cover without having to pay for it? Everywhere I found it wants me to purchase something before I can download it. Its a beautiful cover, but I don't think I should be paying for a fan-made cover.

These are awesome! I just feel bad for poor, cover-less Ducky.

Hey, guys...I made a serious sizing error, with the "Back to the Future" cover I did a few days ago. I have since redrafted it to the correct dimensions, and you can find it RIGHT HERE. Thanks again for all your patience; I appreciate it.

Where did you find it that you do have to pay for it? I have some other covers I need to print that I am having a hard time finding and I am getting tired of looking and am willing to pay a small monthly fee to one of the sites.

On another note I asked about a scan of the original Tangled Blu-Ray cover art. Does anyone know where I can find this? Free would be better but at this point I would pay (see above) if I can find a site that has a lot of what I want. Additionally I bought Buried and Animal Kingdom off EBay with no case or art so I need the art for those also.

That TS cover is watermarked with "Replace the Case" so I'm assuming that's where he found it.

Technically you don't pay for the covers just the privilege to download the covers and use the necessary bandwidth.

Wow! This thread is getting into the 7000! Can we make a feature up in the top of the site where we can see the custom covers and maybe purchase them for a small fee or are there legal problems involved?

There was a website, some years ago, called "DVD Cover Art", and they got sued by Disney for being hooked up with an online printing service. As a result, that site was shut down, and I think this place would suffer the same fate, if such an arangement were made.

You already pay at most custom sites in the form of credits already. It helps them pay for the site itself.

When I first started this hobby (almost ten years ago), I think I may have paid for credits at one point, but I'm not sure. But since I joined CustoManiacs (about three years ago), I haven't paid once for them. I've earned them through submissions.

Yes but not everyone is a great cover artist like you! I am am member at all the sites and at some have donated scans and artwork (so I dont pay at those sites) as long as I contribute in some way.

It's pretty much the same deal for me. I've seen covers by artists who have a LOT more skill and patience than me, and most of my submissions are resource-based.

You are a good cover artist. In fact I believe I use your spanning spine set for my Quantum leap DVD series! But there are so many wonderful artists that are no longer in the game.....I sure do miss them.

Thanks; I appreciate the compliment.

Pardon the pun, but that's a huge step back in time for me. I've wanted to revamp that set for a long time, but the original version was such a headache to begin with, due to a lack of proper resources. I wouldn't want to undergo that kind of artistic stress again.

Yeah, I remember a few from the good ol' DVDCA days; some of them have formed their own sites, while others just disappeared. I did chat with DVDCA's old webmaster a few months ago, and he's pretty much away from the hobby now, too.
