For Terror in the Aisles I found a good-sized poster on Wikipedia. It had some folds I removed using the clone tool. It was a bit tricky with all the text, but whenever a crease crossed a letter I just cloned the entire letter from somewhere else.

What took the longest time was to replicate and expand the text from the skull into the general background. I found a listing of the films featured in this documentary on the Wiki page and copied that as text into a text layer in Photoshop. Matching the beginnings and endings of words where they intersected the titles on the skull took some legerdemain. It's pretty close, but not perfect, so I blended the edges to conceal the transition.

In the end, the client preferred an all black background, but I am showing my original version here. The specs won't be finalized until the movie comes out.

I offered to make a version of the US Skynet edition of T2 with the Ken Taylor poster for a forum member. I think the poster is very cool, but I wouldn't have picked it for a cover myself. (Mostly because you can never make a matching set for the rest of the films.)

I used only the colours found on the poster for the logos and lettering. Red on black is usually dynamite (like the A-team van and Knightrider!) so the choice was obvious. I had to choose the back stills carefully so as not to clash with the colour scheme of the cover.

I've started retyping all the legal small print on my covers, individualizing it for each film and it just gives them that little extra polish. I feel I'm starting to get the hang of the backs. The trick is not to try to cram too much into them. You'll note there's no recap for the movie on there, as the extras are the main attraction of the Skynet edition anyway.

Taking commissions is a good way of diversifying, doing covers I otherwise wouldn't do for myself.
It's a ****ing shame you won't share. I dig both of them and only have a ripped torn VHS cover or Terror In The Aisles to use.

Here is my WIP of The World Is Not Enough. How is it so far?

(That picture of the Earth is only temporary, I have to find a stylized version.)

Should I continue with this design, what can I tweak? I'm thinking of doing the movies that DVDMike did not do.

I'm sure the commissionaires (is that a word?) will share them. If you go back a few pages you'll see the "owner" of the Terror in the Aisles say as much.

That's the thing with commissions, it's part of the package that the client gets exclusive use of the covers. I retain the right for personal and portfolio use, of course.

Very VERY nice. I always like the simple, graphic look. (I should start doing some myself). White background is underrated. One thing though, maybe you should erase the part of the gunbarrel that covers Pierce's eye and get the eye back.

Agree that the globe should be simpler. Maybe the Union Jack should be simpler as well? I'm sure it'll all come together nicely when you get all the elements.

I didn't know it was the same cover, it looks a bit different. Also thanks for the input on my Bond case!

OE, this is improving in leaps and bounds!
The new Pulp Fiction image fits in much better. I'd say the front is a keeper.

Spine looks cool with all the title treatments. A little cluttered, but not bad by far. I still want to get in there and shrink the Blu-ray logo at the bottom. I'm practically sitting here pinching my fingers at the monitor. Ha ha.

The new back with posters only works a treat! I'd say go with that. Brilliant!
I see you've followed through on identical margins on the sides and top, the posters not extending past the specsbox. Good design sense, that.

You set yourself a practically impossible task of making a good design with 6 films on a cover. I wouldn't have dared attempt it myself, but your turned out allright. I should propbably put my money where my mouth is and attempt one myself.

Yes, he wanted a pure, black background, which is a legitimate choice too. The black is faithful to the original poster and gives it that proper 80's feel. I'm just a sucker for textures, as you know, but recognize that it's just my personal aesthetic.

Edit: New Back:

Orlando, these are really coming along! Lookin really nice... have you thought about changing up the font on the back for the synopsis of each film? Maybe do a stylized font that is more fitting to each movie? Not necessary I know, I'm just curious to see what it would look like!

I love these custom covers. There is a lot of talent here. Has anyone created one for Leon?

Anyone know where i can find custom artwork for Up In The Air that uses either of these posters?

The regular cover art is so bland and i'd love to switch it out!

Thanks for the feedback. I didn't manipulate the image, it has originally this "cartoon" look. As for the ship, without it there wouldn't be no POTA so I thought it would be fitting. The ship (although not the same) its used on 3 movies though. The first, second and third movies.

Instead of sending out private messages I just decided to formally state in here that I am not releasing my Star Wars covers. I had hoped they would have been something worth purchasing. Sorry.

yeah, there were 2 or 3 guys that made customs for BTTF throughout the thread, they were awhile back though. I recommend Bartlettphoto's, they are the ones I am using and they are quite stunning if I do say so myself.

Bartlett puts links to all his stuff in the thread so if you search his posts in this thread you should be able to find em.

DVDMike made one using the bottom poster. He's not currently active on this forum, but if you go back a few pages and PM him from one of his posts, you may just get lucky.

Man Nissen, those Star Wars covers really suck...

Nice Job

I really dig the textured look of those, DV8 made some LotR covers and started some Harry Potter covers that used the same type of background, very nice looking!
