I know there are lots of custom Terminator collections and Scream Collections out there.

They look especially nice in the Criterion cases, too. I only ordered a small amount of 5, but when I get ink and print out the ones I was very generously sent, I'll have to order more.

For a free program Gimp is OK but its a little too restrictive for my tastes.

The magic eraser and history tools are two of the most used tools for me in Photoshop and Gimp is very limited in those areas.

I have commissioned two covers. One was for $7 and the other for $9.50.

Thats not too bad at all. Totally not what I was thinking. :-)

Like I said earlier, come November'ish, going to put a request out there (for a commission of course) for the Friends Collection based off of how many Blu-Rays there are in the set and how many covers I will need.

Inspired by Nissen's recent effort here, this is actually a re-do of one of my very first custom covers.

I kept much of the back structure, but changed around the pictures I used to have and added a red color to the formerly silver gradient. The idea behind the shape is to subtly suggest the side of the video game console, which is what the logo in the upper left is drawn from (I found a nice set of custom vector shapes for the Last Starfighter on Deviant art, which is where that came from). I also put in a lot of the transparent graphics behind the text (more of the custom shapes, with opacity lowered and set to overlay) to mimic the HUD overlay seen on the front.

The front poster is actually a combination of the UK Quad, which features Alex in his blue shirt (that he wears in the movie--the headshot of Alex on the spine is from this poster), and the US poster, which shows him as he is there. The UK Quad source was pretty low res, while I had a great resolution for the plaid-shirt Alex, so I superimposed him over the other image, keeping him clear while letting the background stay a bit fuzzy. I added the tagline text myself.

Definitely go to eBay. A company out of Tennessee sells them. The more you buy, the cheaper they are. I usually buy 10 at a time for $20 shipped. Or 20 for $35. Or 25 for $40

They even sell 2-disc Criterion cases now.
