If someone were to do custom covers for the recently released Universal Monsters set, matching covers for Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein and Young Frankenstein would be quite appropriate.

My client says these will be available to share, but there is a matter of costs, so it is undetermined when/if they'll ever be finished.

Saw at Walmart klast night that they had individual Blu rays of the first Bond Blu rays with new covers. I did notice that they had Goldeneye and You Only Live Twice.

Impressive work Nissen in reproducing elements from the previously released Blu's. Personally, I was never a fan of the original Blu-ray style covers but I am impressed at how well you mimic them.

You'll find that designers are very protective of their work (including myself), so you have to be careful where you source artwork from. There are no rules set in stone, but official, studio-owned artwork I consider fair game. Custom stuff, best to ask first or avoid altogether.
Right...if studios really had a problem they would have put a stop to it years ago.

I recall one instance in which a studio used one of my custom cover designs to publicize a Blu-ray release until they worked their own design up.

Did I kick and scream and cry foul - no. I actually thought it was cool that for a while an actual studio was using my custom design.

My point is - the studios have never made an issue of their work being used in custom designs...in some instances they actively encourage it.

Earlier this year Director Christopher Nolan judged a custom cover contest for "Dark Knight Rises" that was organized by the studio.

This is the only time I would consider getting a custom cover as I absolutely HATE the official GoldenEye cover. What would I have to do to get one of these?

Mimic? Hell, I practically made them pixel-perfect :-) Took 4 days of solid work to get the template perfect. That is before you factor in making the new image composites for the front and making the Title Treatments in the same style as the previous releases. The project was more of a technical challenge than an artistic one, but very satisfying once I succeeded.

I am not necessarily a fan of the modern Bond covers either, but my client wants there to be a complete set of these available to everyone. Uniformity of packaging is thusly ensured even for those who just buy the "missing 9" retailer exclusives. Quite an admirable thing, him investing in that and wanting to share with everyone. We're all doing our bit for a better world

And your Manila-Bonds are delectable! Good enough to eat!

You did an amazing job on this and as you said, it is very admirable of your client. However, I think I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that an artist over at Customaniacs completed a series of covers for the missing 9 in this style. I feel your work is much more polished and more accurate (the backs are a bit off and the characters on the front are too small on his covers). I hope you and your client continue with these, but considering your client's selflessness and investment, I thought I should bring it up.

That being said, if the two of you do continue, I noticed that MGM's studio artwork for The Living Daylights features a really miserable likeness of Timothy Dalton.

I don't know if you'll be using this art, but it's something worth fixing.

The high resolution jpeg is available at:

http://www.customaniacs.org/forum/cu...goldeneye.html

Then you'll need to download the free program UndercoverXP to print the cover at the correct size.

I have done Manila style for all the 007 movies except the two Daniel Craig movies (which I do intend to complete when time permits).

For all those people PMing me asking me to send the jpeg files for my custom covers - they are all available at customaniacs.

Yeah the other guys cover on CMs are a bit off - still good, but not quite right.

I hate that image they use of Timothy Dalton - he looks like a duck!!

I don't like that movie but the cover is nice. Almost looks like a Norman Rockwell painting - that is if Mr. Rockwell got tired of the family friendly painting and just said #@$& it!

Blame HvB...he did a mock up of the cover for that movie in CM's artwork section.

Default TDK Trilogy

So I got a new computer and decided to start messing with this again. Here is my TDK Trilogy cover I am working on. Still needs lots of work, esp with the fonts, but I figured I would toss it to the wolves to see what kind of feedback I could get.

I am using the WB template as a base.

Thanks for looking and any comments.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, Rizor, though it does put a dent in my enthusiasm for finishing the rest. I am also now obligated to let my client know about these and let him decide whether to proceed with our project or not, so this may have cost me dearly. I wish I had known about them before accepting this assignment. This was a huge investment in time for me, darn it! And I even used the same Eiffel tower still as he. So embarrassing. *sigh* Ignorance is bliss. :-)

While they appear very good, I still see that I can bring something to the table. He is using a different layout for the back than the US retail discs. In fact, this looks like he is using the exact same source file that one of the admins of CM used to rebuild scans of the actually released covers. He hasn't bothered with the small details like the Canadian and Quebec ratings, for instance, and there are also several more elements in that template that are "off" compared to the originals.

If the differences matter to my client, and he still wants me to finish these, I will take the opportunity to address the complaint over the likeness of Dalton on Living Daylights. Good grief, how could I not :-)

I guess this raises my game.
