I've been working on a Great Escape cover for a few days. I was going to try to use the original DVD artwork, but decided not to. I feel like the original DVD cover is a bit misleading; it makes it seem like Steve McQueen is the main character in the film, when in my opinion, it doesn't really have a main character. So I decided to use the original poster art, which I know DrnHrrr also used. So far, I've got 2 different versions for the back. One basically follows the MGM template that I have. On the other one, I'm trying to make the back fit the style of the front more closely. I'll probably end up using the second one. I'm just not sure that the front and backs of the first one go together well; the front looks old-fashioned while the back looks a little too modern. Plus, I can include more pictures on the second one.

Default The Great Escape (WIP)

I've come up with a third layout for the back of this cover. I know it doesn't list the bonus features, but I usually don't need that info on the back (I usually just remember if my movies have good bonus features or not). I only prefer to include it if I feel like more space needs to be filled up.

I like it. I wonder if that would fit in the slipbox instead of the digipak? hmmm....

The latest from Nissen.

I wanted a new Hellraiser and asked Nissen to do something that was totally his vision rather than using the original artwork for a change. He did me several colour variations but in the end I couldn't decide between these two so had them both. I really like the smoke effect and putting the images within the Lament Configuration design on the reverse.

Those are absolutely great. I prefer the blue one over the blue/red one.

Ok, well, I went through my external hard drives and I found a folder hidden in the depths which was from 2008! It was right before I got my first Blu-ray player and I found some Saw DVD covers and decided to convert them from DVD covers to Blu-ray covers. Saw wasn't finished, but Saw II. The Godzilla Blu-rays have somewhat stalled over the years as Toho never released all of the films onto the format. Another DVD cover that I converted was the Godzilla Vs Mothra cover, scanned from the original Paramount VHS tape from the 90's. Fox technically owns the rights now to the film in the States as Classic Media was bought out by Dreamworks and they distribute through Fox. I created a second version to match the Japanese Blu-ray, by Toho. PM me with your email if you want a hi-res version.

Work In Progress:

Love the Hellraiser ones. Personally I like the pink and blue because it's one of my favorite color combinations, although I'm not sure it works for Hellraiser.

The Scream covers that Nissen designed for me can be seen on my website here http://blushots.weebly.com/custom-blu-ray-covers.html
They divided opinion on this forum but I love them.

PM me if you would like them

Thought I'd start making some customs for Disney's animated classics canon using concept art rather than the overly photoshopped clip art they have been using lately.

Here's a WIP of my very first custom cover ever, for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Is there anyone that would be interested in a collection of these? Not sure how deep I want to get into it if nobody is interested, but let me know.

I'd like to just keep them simple, each cover matching the style of it's film. If anyone has any tips or suggestions, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Also curious as to if anyone has a file that includes the basic clip art that belongs on official releases... region coding, tech specs etc... It'd be helpful!

Id be interested in seeing these for the classic disney movies!!! you really have something going here...for the front cover i would add some sort of background tho iconic to snow white and the seven dwarfs...can't pinpoint just what but some background would be nice

I'll go ahead and make the counterargument that keeping the front art as-is without a background added in maintains the prestige release angle you seem to be going for. I feel that adding a background would remove the "concept" value of the artwork, and make it too busy.

Oh, and great cover RP.

Holy Crap this is awesome! I would be extremely interested in a series of these covers. Excellent work so for. I am excited to see it finished.

Also, I would leave the background as is. I agree that the simplistic nature adds to the "concept" behind the "concept art".

The only thing I would recommend, is adding "Walt Disney" somewhere. As is you have the "Disney" blu-ray logo, but no mention of Walt Disney. One of the things that I HATE about recent official blu-ray releases, is the fact that they are branding them as "Disney" and not "Walt Disney".

Thanks for the feedback! I've decided against adding a background as I'd like them to stay as simple as possible. I've made a bit more progress and have decided to make these Blu-ray exclusive, so I have excluded any mention of it being a combo pack. I know that some people like including their DVD copy, but for the sake of this collection, and because I personally remove the DVD's and give them away, I will be pretending as if they were never released with a DVD copy in the first place.

I think I'm almost done with this one, just need to find the remaining logos and a rating badge.

I've never printed a custom cover before, does anyone know the exact measurements to send to print? I will be putting them in the standard 1 or 2 disc Disney cases (Vortex?)
