Let me take you through how these came to be...
[Show spoiler]
First of all, I needed my 'hero shots' and came up with these six.

After I removed their useless lightsabers and retouched them, I needed some nice backgrounds.

Not quite happy with IV not being in the same style as the others, I then had to try something different. I also had to remove parts of Yoda and Luke's legs in the background of V.

Now I added some new lightsabers and fixed the back of V by coloring and cloning out Luke's legs and parts of Yoda. I did some Lucasing and edited out the two suns on the back of VI. Also did a new background for IV, by taking the shot of Luke watching out on the horizon and contract it. I used this nice shot:

Now, for the final part, I needed to install the TT I wanted to use along with my movie titles.

With the last part, I added some of the characters surrounding colors on themselves, to make it appear as if they were really standing there, and cut out from elsewhere.

---

So, when I realized that all character shots of Luke for V and VI were useless, I had to create my own.
For V I used the Dagobah shot and added another head.

VI is whole other story. No character shots were of useful quality, so I did what I didn't wanna do, but it turned out very nice. I used an action figure and added a headshot of Luke.

---

Now I really feel I created something new for Star Wars. And now on to the backs!
Excellent work, Mad. Also very interesting to see your process.

I did much the same thing when I was asked to do a cover for Harmy's Return of the Jedi descpecialized edition. It was very hard to find something good for Luke, so I made this composite of four different images:

Finding something for the Emperor was also hard, so I made this composite of framegrabs and a photo of a bust of E.

Here's the finished cover. (The middle image is also a composite, btw. So few good images for Jedi.)

BTW, congratulations on winning the ESC!!

I figured no one was going to make a Deadwood Custom Cover Art so I decided to make my own. If anyone has anything better than this please let me know. I made it using Microsoft Paint.

Tell me about it! It's like they've saved the money from photoshoots to use on the financial affairs of the movies .... might not be a bad move after all :P

That Snow White cover is amazing! Can't wait until #2 comes out, which I'm assuming will be Pinocchio (if you are going chronologically).

Phenomenal! I can't wait to see the others. I'm especially looking forward to The Lion King if you get to it, I always liked the concept art from that film.

Here are some updated versions of my forthcoming Star Wars covers.

For this, I've added clouds in the background, gave Anakin and Tatooine a color overhaul, added some kind of sandstorm at the bottom.

Anakin got a yellow tint to go with the background that has been recolored.

Removed all purple in the background and retouched it with black color. Added some fire sparks. For both versions, I added some blue color just on the top of Anakins head, to make it appear as if the lightsaber is really there.

Change the wholoe color layout, removed alot of grain, added clouds, gave Luke some warm colors to mix in with the back.

Recolored a lot of Dagobah, fixed some errors I made when attached a new head to the body, added a lot of fog.

Added green color on the side of Luke's head because of the lightsaber, played with the colors and added a touch of white behind Luke.

Great work, although I can't help but air my disappointment that you did end up going with a background for the front.

I appreciate you showing your work as you do it, it's actually quite interesting.

Cool! I have to say the new clouds look a little much to me. I'm used to hazier looking Tatooine skies than big fluffy white clouds. Also, Luke's head for ESB still doesn't look right, but head replacements are probably the trickiest things to pull off.

Anyone know where I can find a free copy of "Ruby Sparks" Bluray artwork? Just got the disc and case without the artwork off Ebay, and am new to trying custom/reproduced artwork. Thanks.

I can pretty easily remove it if you're interested in a version without it. As I was working on it, it grew on me though, so I decided to leave it in the version I used.
