The reverse cover is definitely there on the Scream release.

To everyone who replied to my rant from a few pages back, I appreciate your support immensely. Some people have come forward with payment, so it wasn't all for nought.

Reading between the lines I recognise that this is not the forum for it, so there will be no further mention of this. I just wanted to acknowledge the support given to me by you, the members of this forum. Many thanks.

As always, translating a tall-and-thin VHS layout into a practically square Blu-ray insert is a balancing act, but I managed to squeeze everything in there without it looking cramped.
That's always one of the hardest parts for me. For DVD covers, the studios could just crop a bit off of the VHS art without it looking too cropped, but cropping it even more to fit a Blu-Ray case is just too much sometimes. That's why I think studios sometimes just release movies with lousy covers; they don't want to take the time to re-compose the image to make it work. This is why I usually wish they would have just made Blu-Ray cases the same height as DVDs. I know Disney releases most of their Blu-Rays in DVD packaging as well, but if the other studios aren't doing it, it's kind of pointless.
There have been times I thought about just putting my Blu-Rays into the DVD cases, but I own quite a few Blu-Rays that I never bought on DVD, so I'd be spending even more time creating DVD covers for them.

An alternate for The Emperor's New Groove... I was really unhappy with the previous one.
I will fix the WDHE badge before I post it to the blog!

Not sure if anyone here has ever created one or if this has been addressed before. But I've always been (and I don't think I am alone here) disappointed in cover art for just about every single release of The Road Warrior. I would love to see a cover for it that is more than just Mel on the street, especially given how Beyond Thunderdome used the poster art. And if it could also say "Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior", i think that would be ideal. I really need to learn how to make these for myself

Nope. Wrong film. I received it in the mail yesterday -- the first I've ever been lucky enough to get a movie a day early from Amazon -- and I can confirm that it does, in fact, have the reversible cover, which was never in question. I believe it's Swamp Thing (?) that's not getting the reversible cover.

I love these Disney covers that have been cropping up. I generally only seek out custom covers for films that come in that horrible "book" packaging (Star Wars, Alien, Indiana Jones, Universal Monsters, etc.), but I'm half tempted to use these, as well.

Nissen's throwback to the old school VHS artwork is especially easy on the ink, if you use your own printer. But I also love the colorful vibe from RebelPrince's covers. I'm thinking RebelPrince's covers would make fantastic slipcovers with Nissen's being the case cover. (Now, if I only knew how to do a slipcover )

Oh well...at least I had fun creating this cover. I wonder why someone said in the Fog thread that it wasn't printed on the reverse side?

I'm curious to know if people completely throw out the original studio issued artwork when they get/create custom covers.

Personally, I just slip the custom overtop of the studio issued one.

Finding and isolating all the different title-treatments takes forever. Some I find right away, ready-to-wear from the resource banks of the cover sites I frequent. Others I have to cut out of posters or frame-grabs. With this particular layout they all have to be on a single line, so that entails more work in some cases.

It also takes a long time to harvest images for every single movie, and then find something that will work on the front. My client wanted to avoid using the DVD/Blu covers or posters wherever possible, and the original Disney covers mostly used stills from the films on the front, so I tried to replicate that. He also didn't want them to look like random stills, so we've gone a bit back and forth on choosing the front imagery. Here's where we are at the moment:

I think the line art covers RebelPrince1986 is doing are great
But
These old VHS versions are too cool for school
I grew up in the seventies , so 60% of the time nostalgia gets me every time

Looking great. I'm definitely going to be ditching "book" package, though I'm not sure if I'm gonna go with separate cases, or a 10 disc case.

They probably confused it with a release that isn't getting reverse artwork. I believe Swamp Thing is the one not getting it, but don't quote me on that.

I flatten them out and store them in a box. I've found that if you just slip it over the studio artwork, often times it sticks out from underneath, making it look messy.

For me, it depends how bad it is. I usually just store the old covers in a box. Even if I think it doesn't fit the movie, I still like to use them once in a while to get ideas for back covers.

Default David Gilmour Custom Blu-Ray Cover?

Am sorta new here, didn't know whether to PM someone, the OP or what, but I'd like to request the following covers, one being blu-ray, and the other is a regular dvd cover:

David Gilmour - Remember That Night(US/Columbia version)-Blu-Ray-This release comes in cardboard/digipack packaging, and would like to put the discs in a regular blu-ray case, with some custom cover art.

I did come across this artwork for it, which is almost exactly what I'm looking for, but the text on the cover and spine do not match. I am no expert at making custom covers of any sort, so that's why I came here!

Pink Floyd - Pulse(US 2006 Columbia version)-DVD-Not sure if there's a thread for custom DVD covers, but I'd like to get a custom cover for this release as well. For same reason as the other one: I'd like to put them in a regular DVD case with a custom insert.

Great work Rebelprince!

Sword in the stone is so much more beautiful than the Disney cover!
I like the colors from Jungle Book, only a pity Mowgli isn't on the frontcover....
